Description: Procurement Specialist - IT & Networking Infrastructure
About the job
Job Purpose
- To manage end-to-end procurement activities for networking, IT infrastructure, and system integration projects, ensuring timely sourcing, cost optimization, and adherence to quality and compliance standards.
- The role involves coordination with vendors, project, and technical teams to align procurement with project schedules and client deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage procurement for IT, networking, telecom, and datacenter components such as servers, switches, routers, cables, racks, and passive equipment.
- Raise and process purchase requisitions, obtain quotations, evaluate suppliers, and prepare comparative cost analyses.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with vendors to achieve best value.
- Maintain and update vendor database; identify and onboard new suppliers for system integration requirements.
- Ensure timely issuance of Purchase Orders (POs) and follow up on material dispatch and delivery timelines.
- Coordinate with stores/logistics for inward material verification and documentation.
- Work closely with project managers, presales, and finance teams to align procurement schedules with project needs.
- Verify vendor invoices, GRNs, and resolve discrepancies in coordination with accounts team.
- Prepare monthly procurement status reports, track savings metrics, and maintain procurement documentation.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and company procurement policies and participate in periodic audits.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
- Graduate in Engineering (Electronics / Telecommunications / IT) or Commerce; MBA in Supply Chain / Operations preferred.
Experience:
- 2 to 8 years in procurement or purchase function, preferably in IT, networking, or system integration industry.
Preferred Background:
- Candidates with experience in sourcing OEM products (Cisco, HP, Dell, Fortinet, Juniper, etc.) and SI/Project environments.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of procurement lifecycle, vendor management, and negotiation techniques.
- Familiarity with ERP or procurement management systems.
- Good understanding of networking and IT hardware components.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and documentation skills.
- Analytical mindset for cost comparison and negotiation analysis.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
