Manager - Logistics
About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Logistics Manager to oversee and optimize our logistics operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the end-to-end supply chain processes, ensuring timely delivery, cost efficiency, and maintaining high service standards.
This role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills to streamline logistics workflows and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Logistics Planning & Coordination: Develop and implement logistics strategies, policies, and procedures to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Supply Chain Management: Oversee inbound and outbound logistics, including transportation, warehousing, inventory management, and distribution.
- Vendor & Carrier Management: Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, carriers, and suppliers to ensure reliable service and negotiate contracts for cost-effective transportation solutions.
- Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels, coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams to avoid shortages or excess inventory.
- Transportation Management: Plan and optimize routing, scheduling, and freight consolidation to maximize resource utilization and reduce transit times.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and safety standards governing transportation and storage.
- Budgeting & Cost Control: Prepare and manage logistics budgets, analyze costs, and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising service quality.
- Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as delivery accuracy, transit time, freight costs, and warehouse productivity.
Prepare reports for senior management.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop logistics staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and collaboration.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with procurement, sales, production, and customer service teams to align logistics with business needs and customer expectations.
- Technology & Process Improvement: Leverage logistics management software (TMS, WMS, ERP) and automation tools to streamline operations and improve data accuracy.
Identify opportunities for process enhancement and implement best practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelors/master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or operations management, preferably in a manufacturing, retail, or distribution environment.
- Strong knowledge of logistics processes, transportation modes, customs regulations, and warehousing.
- Proven experience in vendor management and contract negotiations.
- Proficient in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) is a plus.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
