Manager - Govt Sales About the Role: We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Government Sales Manager to lead our business development efforts within government sectors, including central and state government departments, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and allied agencies. This role involves targeting projects related to smart cities, surveillance systems, IT infrastructure, data centers, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and command & control centers. As a Government Sales Manager, you will drive new business acquisition, build strategic relationships, and coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure successful bid submissions and contract closures. You will be instrumental in navigating complex government tendering processes and developing sales strategies aligned with organizational growth objectives. Key Responsibilities: - Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities within government entities, PSUs, and allied agencies. - Focus on high-impact projects such as smart city initiatives, surveillance infrastructure, IT modernization, cloud adoption, cybersecurity solutions, and command & control center deployments. - Develop targeted outreach plans to penetrate government accounts and generate qualified leads. - Establish and nurture strong relationships with key government officials, department heads, consultants, and industry influencers. - Collaborate effectively with system integrators, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), technology partners, and channel stakeholders to participate in joint bids and expand market reach. - Act as the primary liaison between the company and government customers, ensuring alignment of product offerings with client needs. - Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies and account plans to achieve or exceed sales targets within the government vertical. - Monitor and track government tenders and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) on platforms like Government e-Marketplace (GeM), Central Public Procurement Portal (CPPP), and various state procurement portals. - Lead and coordinate the end-to-end proposal and bid submission process, collaborating with pre-sales, technical, legal, and finance teams. - Negotiate commercial terms and contracts in coordination with legal and compliance teams to close deals successfully. - Conduct regular market research to track government spending trends, upcoming projects, and competitor activities. - Provide timely and actionable market intelligence and pipeline status reports to senior leadership. - Identify gaps and opportunities to strengthen the companys competitive position in the government segment. - Ensure meticulous compliance with government tendering norms, regulatory requirements, and procurement guidelines. - Manage all documentation related to bids, contracts, and approvals to avoid procedural delays. - Support contract negotiations, post-award handover, and project execution in collaboration with project management and delivery teams. Required Qualifications: - Bachelors degree in Business Administration or a related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred. - Minimum 5-7 years of proven experience in government sales or business development, preferably in IT infrastructure, smart city solutions, cybersecurity, or related technology domains. - Deep understanding of government procurement processes, tendering platforms (GeM, CPPP), and regulatory environment. - Strong network and relationship-building skills within government departments, PSUs, and allied agencies. - Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills. - Ability to manage complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders and technical evaluations. - Proficiency in sales CRM tools, Microsoft Office, and proposal management software.
