Internal Auditor - Steel Manufacturing Industry

Industry: Steel Manufacturing (Experience in steel industry is mandatory)

We are seeking a highly competent and experienced Internal Auditor to join a leading steel manufacturing company in East Africa. The ideal candidate will bring strong audit expertise, deep understanding of internal controls, and a proven track record in driving governance and compliance within the steel sector.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct independent audits to assess the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes.

- Plan, schedule, and execute internal audits in accordance with auditing standards and company requirements.

- Perform comprehensive risk assessments to identify high-risk areas requiring audit attention.

- Evaluate the adequacy and efficiency of internal controls, policies, and operational procedures across departments.

- Review financial statements, accounting records, and transactional data to ensure accuracy and integrity.

- Assess compliance with statutory laws, industry regulations, and internal company policies.

- Identify audit findings, document gaps, and prepare detailed audit reports with actionable recommendations.

- Monitor and follow up on the implementation of audit recommendations to ensure timely closure.

- Collaborate and coordinate with external auditors during statutory and compliance audits.

- Develop, maintain, and update audit documentation, workpapers, and audit methodologies.

- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with attention to detail.

- Excellent report-writing, presentation, and communication abilities.

- Proficiency in MS Office; experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).

- Ability to work independently, handle sensitive information, and manage multiple priorities.

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.

Qualifications & Experience:

- CA / CA Inter

- Mandatory: Prior experience in the steel manufacturing industry.
