Interim COO Manufacturing Operations (OEM / EPC / Industrial Manufacturing Sector)

Role Overview

The organization is seeking an Interim COO to lead and stabilize end-to-end manufacturing operations during a phase of rapid scale-up and operational expansion.

The role requires a hands-on operations leader with deep manufacturing expertise, capable of driving operational efficiency, digital transformation (IoT / Manufacturing IT), and supply chain integration while ensuring continuity and performance improvement across plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Manufacturing Operations Leadership

- Oversee end-to-end manufacturing operations across production facilities.

- Ensure optimal plant utilization, productivity improvement, and cost efficiency.

- Drive operational excellence through Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement programs.

2. Operations Transformation & Digitalization

- Lead adoption and integration of IoT and Manufacturing IT systems.

- Strengthen plant automation, data-driven decision making, and digital manufacturing capabilities.

- Ensure seamless integration of ERP / MES / manufacturing analytics systems.

3. Supply Chain & Procurement Oversight

- Manage end-to-end supply chain including procurement, vendor management, logistics, and inventory planning.

- Improve supply chain resilience and operational agility to support business growth.

- Optimize cost structures and procurement strategies.

4. Scale-Up Management

- Support the company's rapid expansion phase by strengthening manufacturing capacity and operational processes.

- Establish robust governance, operational KPIs, and reporting structures.

5. Stakeholder Management

- Work closely with CEO, Board, and senior leadership to align operational strategies with growth objectives.

- Lead and mentor plant heads, operations teams, and supply chain leaders.

6. Performance & Risk Management

- Drive improvements in operational KPIs (OEE, cost per unit, yield, quality, turnaround time).

- Identify operational risks and implement corrective action plans.

Candidate Profile

Experience:

- 20+ years of experience in manufacturing operations.

- Significant experience in leading large-scale manufacturing operations or multi-plant environments.

- Experience managing operations in companies with - 1000+ crore revenues.

Functional Expertise

Strong expertise in:

- Manufacturing operations

- Procurement and supply chain management

- Industrial automation and digital manufacturing

- IoT / Industry 4.0 / Manufacturing IT systems

- Operational excellence frameworks

Sector: Automotive, Industrial Engineering, EPC

- Proven track record of leading large operational teams and complex manufacturing environments.

- Experience working directly with CXO leadership or board-level stakeholders.

Education

- Engineering degree (Mechanical / Industrial / Production or similar).

- MBA preferred.
