Job Title:Chief Growth / Strategy Officer (Interim Assignment- 8 to 12 Months)

Location: Gurgaon, India

About the Organization

The organization is well established Indian industrial solutions company operating in the paints, coatings, and surface treatment space. It serves leading OEMs and manufacturing clients across automotive and engineering sectors with a strong portfolio of industrial coatings, chemicals, and allied products. The organization aims to scale from - 125 Cr to - 500 Cr within 3-5 years through a combination of organic growth, technology-led expansion, and strategic acquisitions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Diagnostic & Market Assessment


- Conduct comprehensive assessment of current portfolio, margin pools, and customer segments.

- Identify organic growth levers across products, markets, and technologies.

- Map competitive landscape in coatings and related chemical segments.

- Evaluate technology trends and emerging opportunities.

2. Growth Strategy Formulation

- Develop a 3-5 year growth roadmap to achieve - 500 Cr target.

- Define priority segments and capital allocation strategy.

- Recommend portfolio expansion opportunities.

- Identify capability gaps (technology, commercial, operational).

3. Inorganic Growth & M&A

- Identify and evaluate acquisition targets.

- Lead commercial due diligence and synergy assessment.

- Structure acquisition thesis and integration roadmap.

- Support negotiation and post-merger integration planning.

4. Execution Enablement

- Translate strategy into actionable 6-12 month execution plan.

- Drive pilot initiatives to validate growth hypotheses.

- Align leadership and organization for scale-up.

- Establish governance mechanisms and performance metrics.

5. Stakeholder Leadership

- Work closely with promoter/owner on strategic decisions.

- Engage functional heads to align business priorities.

- Build external ecosystem relationships (technology partners, advisors, targets).

Key Result Areas (KRAs)

- Completion of structured diagnostic within 60 days.

- Defined and board-approved 3-5 year strategic roadmap.

- Identification of minimum 2-3 actionable inorganic targets.

- Launch of at least one validated growth initiative.

- Organization readiness blueprint for scale-up to - 500 Cr.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications

- Degree in Chemical Engineering / Chemical Technology (preferred).

- MBA (preferred but not mandatory).

Experience

- 20-30 years of experience in Chemicals / Coatings sector.

- Experience leading a B2B chemicals business as Business Head / BU Head / P&L Leader.

- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and portfolio expansion.

- Exposure to evaluating or executing M&A transactions.

- Experience working in multinational or large Indian chemical organizations.

Desired Skills

- Strong technology-commercial acumen.

- Strategic thinking with execution capability.

- Deep understanding of coatings and specialty chemical industry landscape.

- M&A evaluation and integration exposure.

- Ability to work in promoter-driven environment.
