The Role:

The Industry Relations Lead plays a key role in Avanti's College Support program - a program for first generation low income (FGLI) learners going to top colleges across the country focusing on increasing their career outcomes.

You will be expected to work with partners across a wide variety of industries, donors, corporate organizations, and startups to maximise internship and placement opportunities for FGLI students in India's top colleges.

Key Responsibilities:

- Build and maintain working relationships with recruitment teams of partner organizations and gauge hiring requirements

- Analyse Job Descriptions to inform the program team on eligibility and skill requirements for internships and jobs in partner organizations

- Gain in depth understanding of the hiring processes for said roles, to inform the program team on designing interventions that can help FGLI students get selected

- Develop and maintain a placement portfolio of suitable candidates for relevant roles that can be shared with leaders and recruitment teams of partner organizations

- Work with team members towards smooth conduction of shortlisting and recruitment process for suitable candidates

- Provide high-level updates to partner organizations on recruitment pool and ongoing processes

- Develop and maintain tracking mechanisms for candidates who have been shortlisted, selected and placed

- Conduct outreach to organizations outside existing partnerships to evangelise our effort for maximising career outcomes for FGLI students to get internship and job opportunities opened up

What You'll Actually Do:

- Travel to offices of partner organizations to meet leaders and recruitment teams

- Analyse Job Description documents to prepare a charter of skills and other eligibility requirements

- Work with Avanti team members to align on skill requirements to help students get shortlisted

- Work with Avanti team members to help students complete various steps of selection processes

- Prepare Placement profile documents that can be shared with potential recruiters

- Create and update dashboards and trackers to help recruitment teams track candidates in process

- Stay involved in hiring and onboarding of new team members in the project

What Probably Won't Work:

- Strict limitations to JD for responsibilities - As an organization we deal with problem statements that have not been picked up by the industry and our scale and scope occasionally demands solutioning and owning areas that may not be covered in this Job Description

- Avoiding travel when necessary

- Avoiding human interaction

- Blind reliance on AI tools to produce output. We encourage the use of AI to enhance planning and output but believe that first principles thinking, human interaction, discussion, alignment and conflict resolution is what drives progress

What's Hard About This Job:
