
Role Overview:
- A reputed law firm in Delhi is seeking a skilled Indirect Tax Litigation professional to support and independently manage litigation matters relating to GST and other indirect taxes.
- The role offers deep exposure to litigation strategy, drafting, research, and courtroom assistance across multiple judicial and quasi-judicial forums.
- This position is ideal for professionals looking to strengthen their litigation practice in indirect taxation while working closely with senior lawyers and counsels on complex matters.
Key Responsibilities:
Indirect Tax Litigation:
- Handle GST and indirect tax litigation matters, including Customs, Excise, and Service Tax, as applicable.
- Assist and support in appearances before adjudicating authorities, appellate authorities, tribunals, and courts.
- Participate in litigation strategy discussions and case planning.
Drafting & Legal Submissions:
- Draft and review replies to show cause notices, appeals, written submissions, rejoinders, and legal applications.
- Prepare briefs, synopses, case notes, and legal opinions under guidance.
- Assist in drafting writ petitions, stay applications, affidavits, and petitions for higher judicial forums.
Research & Case Preparation:
- Conduct in-depth legal research on GST laws, notifications, circulars, and judicial precedents.
- Track evolving jurisprudence and analyze its impact on ongoing litigation.
- Prepare case law compilations, argument notes, and comparative analyses.
Client & Matter Coordination:
- Interact with clients to gather facts, documents, and procedural information.
- Coordinate filings, hearings, and compliance-related activities.
- Maintain accurate records, timelines, and case documentation.
Key Result Areas (KRAs):
- Timely and accurate drafting of litigation documents with minimal revisions.
- Strong legal research output supporting effective litigation outcomes.
- Efficient handling of filings, hearings, and procedural requirements.
- Progressive ability to handle routine litigation matters independently.
- Adherence to professional ethics, confidentiality, and quality standards.
Eligibility & Key Requirements:
Mandatory:
- LLB degree from a recognized university; enrollment with the Bar Council preferred.
- 1-3 years of hands-on experience in Indirect Tax / GST litigation.
- Working knowledge of GST law, adjudication, and appellate procedures.
- Strong drafting, research, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines efficiently.
Good to Have:
- Exposure to High Court litigation under GST.
- Experience with GST audits, investigations, and enforcement proceedings.
- Familiarity with Customs and allied indirect tax laws.
- Experience working with reputed law firms or litigation chambers
