Finance Controller - NBFC / Fintech Location: Gurgaon Experience: 7 - 12 years post-qualification Qualification: Chartered Accountant (CA) - Mandatory Reporting to: CFO Preferred Background: NBFC / Fintech / Lending / Banking / Financial Services About indiagold indiagold is building the next generation of gold-backed lending in India. We are scaling from a lending platform into a full-fledged NBFC and balance-sheet-led financial services business, with a focus on building a technology-enabled, customer-centric and highly scalable gold lending franchise. As we enter the next phase of growth, we are building the people, processes, technology and financial infrastructure required to create a high-quality, institution-grade NBFC. This is an opportunity to join the company at an important stage of its journey and help build the finance function and operating architecture that will support the next phase of scale. About the Role We are looking for a technically strong and commercially aware Finance Controller to anchor the controllership function at indiagold. This is a foundational role where you will own the integrity of our books, financial reporting, regulatory compliance and internal controls, while building scalable finance processes for a fast-growing NBFC. The ideal candidate combines strong expertise in Ind AS, taxation and audit with a deep understanding of lending businesses, RBI regulations and financial controls. You should be a hands-on process builder who takes ownership, has a high bar for accuracy and enjoys building systems and processes from the ground up. Key Responsibilities - Own the end-to-end monthly, quarterly and annual financial close, ensuring accurate and timely accounting, reconciliations and reporting. - Prepare and review financial statements including P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statement in accordance with Ind AS and applicable regulatory requirements. - Oversee journal entries, ledger reconciliations, provisions, accruals and other key accounting controls. - Ensure robust accounting for lending-related income and expenses, including interest income, processing fees, penal charges, EIR and other revenue streams. - Drive accounting and reporting under Ind AS 109, including ECL and financial instrument accounting. - Produce accurate management MIS and financial reporting, partnering with FP&A and business teams on performance reporting and analysis. - Own RBI regulatory reporting and ensure timely and accurate submission of applicable returns. - Oversee accounting and reporting relating to NPA classification, provisioning, capital adequacy and other prudential requirements. - Drive robust reconciliation between the Loan Management System, collections, bank accounts and General Ledger. - Ensure accuracy of loan balances, interest, repayments, write-offs, reversals and other lending transactions. - Support the CFO on RBI inspections, regulatory matters and implementation of changes in the regulatory framework. - Oversee GST, TDS, income tax and other direct and indirect tax compliances. - Manage tax assessments, notices and correspondence with tax authorities, working with external advisors where required. - Lead the statutory and internal audit process end-to-end, including audit schedules, auditor queries and timely closure of observations. - Ensure compliance with applicable Companies Act, MCA and other statutory requirements. - Partner with Legal & Compliance on regulatory filings and debt/funding-related covenant compliance. - Design, implement and continuously strengthen the internal financial control framework across finance and lending operations. - Establish and document SOPs covering financial close, reconciliations, approval workflows, payments and reporting. - Identify control gaps and drive timely remediation. - Drive automation, digitisation and improvements in accounting/ERP systems to improve accuracy, efficiency and scalability. - Ensure finance data, chart of accounts and reporting structures remain robust as the business and product suite scale. - Work closely with Treasury on liquidity, cash flows and funding-related accounting. - Support accounting and reporting for borrowings including NCDs, term loans, securitisation, direct assignment, co-lending and other funding structures, as applicable. - Build, mentor and lead a high-performing finance team. - Establish strong ownership, review mechanisms and a culture of accuracy, accountability and governance. What We Are Looking For: - CA with 7 - 12 years of post-qualification experience, with meaningful ownership of financial controllership, reporting and statutory compliance. - Prior experience in an NBFC / fintech / lending / banking / financial services organisation strongly preferred. - Strong working knowledge of Ind AS, particularly Ind AS 109, ECL and financial-services accounting. - Hands-on experience with RBI regulatory reporting and NBFC compliance. - Strong understanding of lending finance, reconciliations, NPA/provisioning and financial controls. - Experience independently managing statutory and internal audits. - Strong working knowledge of GST, TDS and corporate income tax. - Prior Big 4 experience is preferred. - Strong analytical ability, attention to detail and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment. - A builder's mindset - someone who is comfortable creating processes, controls and systems rather than simply operating an existing framework. Why This Role: This is an opportunity to build the controllership function of a scaling NBFC and play a critical role in shaping the financial architecture of indiagold as we grow. You will work closely with the founders, business, treasury, auditors, lenders and investors, with significant exposure to the balance sheet, funding, regulatory environment and core lending business. You will also have the opportunity to participate in indiagold's growth and wealth-creation journey through ESOPs, aligning your long-term success with the value you help create for the company.
