Chief of Staff, Founder's Office - indiagold
Gurugram - Works directly with the founders
Why this role exists
indiagold is a licensed NBFC rebuilding gold lending from first principles. Over six years we've disbursed more than - 6,000 crore against gold, at a net credit loss of zero. Muthoot's own MD has said publicly that a lender his size structurally cannot do high-LTV gold loans; we can, safely, because we spent five years building the risk engines for it. That is the short version of our right to win.
We're now in the most capital-intensive phase of the company's life. There's a Series B in front of us and other strategic conversations running alongside it. Both are, at their core, the same act: sitting across from a sophisticated investor or counterparty and making them believe in this business as much as we do.
Right now, only the two founders can do that. We need it to be three.
That's the job.
What this role is not
It is not an IR coordinator seat. It is not assembling the data room, running the calendar, and letting the partners do the talking. We've tried a version of that and, for a company at our stage, it doesn't move anything. If you're someone who does careful, heads-down work inside a large deal team and goes quiet when the room gets hard, this will be the wrong role for you.
What you'll own
Two things, both close to the founders.
- The capital agenda, end to end. You'll help shape the story and the numbers behind it, build and defend the model, and run investor conversations from first meeting through to close. When an investor pushes on asset quality, on LTV discipline, on the DSA run-rate after the RBI circular this year, or on where gold-loan regulation is heading - you answer, and you answer well, without turning to a founder. You'll need to know our unit economics and the gold-loan market cold enough to lead the conversation, not transcribe it.
- Everything else a chief of staff owns. Between fund raise events you turn what the founders intend into things that actually ship. You chase the handful of problems that matter across strategy and performance, prepare board and investor communication, and close the loops nobody else is holding. You'll be judged on what happened, not on how busy you looked.
Who fits
We care about trajectory far more than pedigree.
- You've raised or negotiated capital - not supported it. You led or genuinely co-led an institutional equity round (Series A, B or C) at a startup, or drove one from inside a VC fund, or owned a live strategic / M&A process end to end. You were in the room when terms got negotiated, not two seats away. If you've founded something yourself, that's a strong signal to us - it usually means you can sell, you can own an outcome, and you don't need a safety net under you.
- You can sell this company as if it were yours. This is the whole thing. You're credible, you're sharp, and people believe you - because you took the time to actually understand the business and the industry, not because you memorised the deck. If your instinct in a high-stakes room is to hang back and let someone senior take it, this isn't your seat.
- You're young and hungry in a way that's hard to fake. You pick up a domain faster than people expect. Within a few weeks you should be the most convincing voice on gold financing in a room full of investors. You see this as a launchpad to running something big - maybe your own company one day. Good. We'd rather back someone who's betting on themselves.
- You sweat the detail under the polish. You can move from the one-line thesis down to a single cohort's repayment curve without losing the thread. And you never paper over a gap with a guess. When you don't know, you go find out - a value we hold hard internally.
The practical details
Compensation: While we'll offer competitive compensation plus meaningful ESOPs, we're looking for someone who's motivated more by the opportunity and equity.
Location: At the Gurugram office. This sits next to the founders, so expect real in-person time and travel for investor and partner meetings.
Experience: Open by design. We're not counting years. We're looking for at least one capital event you can honestly say you led or co-led, and the hunger to run the next one bigger.
What you get
A direct line to the founders and the real work of building the company. One of the highest-leverage mandates we have. And a speaking part - not a support role - in scaling a business that's rethinking how Indians borrow against the - 150 lakh crore of gold already sitting in their homes.
If you've raised or negotiated capital, can sell a business you believe in, and want to do it at a bigger scale - write to us. Tell us about one capital event you drove, and specifically what you did to get it over the line.
