Role: Product Manager Dashboard Creation Platform (Similar to Power BI)

Experience Level: 5+ years ( in BI/Analytics Product Management)

About the Role

- We are seeking an experienced Product Manager to lead the design and development of a next-generation self-service BI and dashboard creation tool, comparable to Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.

- This role requires a deep understanding of data visualization, analytics workflows, and interactive dashboard design.

- You will work closely with engineering, UX, and data teams to shape a platform that empowers users to connect to various data sources, model relationships, and visualize insights through an intuitive, dynamic interface.

Key Responsibilities

- Define the product vision and roadmap for the dashboard creation and reporting platform.

- Design and prioritize features such as:

- Data source connectors (SQL, ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, Excel, Google Sheets, APIs)

- Data modeling layer (relationships, measures, hierarchies)

- Visualization builder (drag-and-drop chart creator, layout designer)

- Drill-down and filter interactivity

- Real-time/live data refresh and caching mechanisms.

- Collaborate with engineering to implement query engines, semantic models, and rendering pipelines similar to Power BIs VertiPaq or Cube.js/Trino.

- Translate complex BI workflows into user-friendly interfaces for business and technical users.

- Drive integration between backend data engines and frontend visualization layers.

- Partner with design and analytics experts to ensure usability, scalability, and performance.

- Conduct competitor analysis (Power BI, Tableau, Metabase, Superset) to identify differentiation opportunities.

- Define KPIs for usage, adoption, and data performance metrics.

Required Skills & Experience

- 5+ years of experience in Product Management, preferably for data analytics or BI tools.

- Strong understanding of data visualization frameworks, semantic modeling, and query optimization.

- Experience with one or more BI/Analytics ecosystems:

- Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Metabase, Superset, Apache Druid, ClickHouse.

- Familiarity with SQL, data modeling, and time-series analytics.

- Experience working with engineering teams building front-end dashboards (React, Angular, D3.js, ECharts, Vega, etc.

- Knowledge of data connectors and APIs for databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL, and Google Sheets.

- Strong sense of UX for analytics ability to design intuitive visual workflows.

- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with query engines (Trino, Presto, Cube.js) or OLAP stores (ClickHouse, Druid).

- Understanding of caching layers, data federation, and real-time streaming data.

- Previous experience in building SaaS data tools or embedded analytics platforms.

- Technical background or degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related fields.

What Success Looks Like

- A clear product roadmap for dashboard creation, visualization, and data modeling.

- Delivery of an intuitive chart builder that supports drag-and-drop creation of visuals.

- Scalable architecture capable of connecting to multiple data sources and rendering dashboards efficiently.

- High user satisfaction and platform adoption among both business and technical users
