
Overall Responsibility
The Officer - Finance & Accounts will support the Registrar in ensuring the efficient functioning of the Finance & Accounts Office. The role involves managing core financial operations, regulatory compliance, and statutory interactions, with a significant focus on regulatory affairs, including liaison with government agencies such as the Income Tax Department, PF, ESI authorities, educational regulatory bodies, funding agencies, labour, government and other statutory bodies
Key Responsibilities
1. Regulatory and Statutory Compliance (Approx. 40%)
- Ensure proactive engagement and compliance with educational and institutional regulatory authorities, labour and social security bodies (PF, ESI, etc.), financial and taxation authorities, funding and grant agencies, and other relevant statutory and compliance bodies.
- Oversee timely and accurate statutory filings, submissions, and disclosures under Income Tax, GST, Provident Fund, and other applicable regulations.
- Act as the primary liaison with government and regulatory agencies to facilitate inspections, audits, and official communications, ensuring prompt resolution of queries and corrective actions.
- Monitor and interpret changes in financial, labour, and institutional regulations, advising on necessary updates to institutional policies and compliance mechanisms.
2. Financial Management and Reporting
- Prepare and maintain management reports, including monthly balance sheets, profit & loss statements, and cash-flow statements.
- Conduct monthly variance analysis, highlight key issues, and recommend corrective actions.
- Support the preparation of annual budgets and monthly MIS reports for management review.
- Manage external financial reporting, audits, and research on accounting or tax matters.
3. Systems and Process Management
- Lead finance-related IT implementations and ensure smooth system integration.
- Strengthen internal controls and oversee the integrity of financial systems and processes.
- Review internal audit findings and coordinate with relevant teams to address process gaps.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and consultants to streamline financial workflows.
4. People Leadership and Capability Building
- Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the Finance & Accounts team.
- Promote knowledge sharing through regular reviews, documentation, and training.
- Identify, mentor, and build a strong second line of leadership to ensure succession readiness and operational continuity.
5. Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with internal functions, vendors, and auditors to resolve financial discrepancies and maintain institutional credibility.
- Provide expert financial and tax guidance to support decision-making.
Key Competencies
Education & Experience:
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA).
- 8-10 years of experience in Finance & Accounts, preferably in a premier academic or national institution.
- Proven ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and accounting software.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach.
- High degree of discretion, reliability, and attention to detail.

Type of Role: Regular position with an initial contract of 3 years to be renewed based on performance and Institute's needs.
Pay: The compensation is in the range of Rs. 20 lakhs and above based on experience and competencies.
