Role Overview:
As Head of Alumni Affairs, you will strategically manage the global alumni ecosystem to foster lifelong, mutually beneficial relationships. Your focus will be on driving high-value philanthropy and engaging alumni as key stakeholders in the Institutes evolution into a world-class research university.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership:
- Design and lead a multi-year strategy to increase the depth and breadth of alumni engagement across different geographies.
- Oversee the establishment and growth of local and international alumni chapters, ensuring they align with the Institute's brand and values.
- Act as the primary liaison between the alumni, Institute, Director and Governing Council.
2. Fundraising & Development:
- Lead fundraising campaigns in the alumni network for activities such as scholarship for weaker students, conference travel grants, research chairs and campus infrastructure.
- Collaborate with alumni in senior leadership (CXOs/Founders) to facilitate CSR funding and strategic corporate partnerships.
- Strategically oversee the alumni fund, ensuring sustainable growth and transparent disbursement for scholarships and startup grants.
3. Professional Networking & Mentorship:
- Leverage the alumni network to provide internships, placements, and guest lectures for current students.
- Partner with the CIE (Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship) to connect alumni mentors with student-led startups.
- Curate exclusive networking platforms for distinguished alumni and high-achievers to foster peer-to-peer collaboration.
4. Brand Advocacy & Communication:
- Lead the vision for all digital touchpoints portal, app, and social media ensuring a highend, seamless alumni experience.
- Oversee the alumni awards selection to enhance the program's prestige and institutional visibility.
- Publish high-quality annual reports and newsletters that showcase the tangible impact of alumni contributions on the Institutes growth.
KEY COMPETENCIES:
Education & Experience:
- Person with a four-year undergrad degree along with a masters degree (MBA, Public Relations, or International Relations) from a reputed institution. Engineering/Science background candidates are preferred.
- 8-10 years of experience with at least 4-5 years in a leadership role within Alumni Relations, Corporate Relations, or Business Development, preferably with prestigious social or educational fellowships (e.g., Teach for India, Ashoka) is highly desirable.
Key Competencies:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a focus on clear, articulative storytelling and cross-functional alignment.
- Ability to translate the Institute's research goals into alumni-driven initiatives.
- Executive-level presence with the ability to pitch the Institutes vision to high-net-worth individuals (HNIs).
- Proven ability to manage complex relationships with peer-level stakeholders at scale, including marketing, field strategy, and partnership management.
- The ability to sell the institution's vision to turn passive graduates into active donors or mentors.
- Understand how to leverage CRM systems, mobile apps, and social media to keep a fragmented global audience connected.
- A proven track record in transforming emotional nostalgia into tangible financial support.
- Experience working with diverse groups, from young graduates to veteran industry leaders and faculty.
Reporting Relationship:
- The position supports the objectives of the Alumni Affairs Committee and coordinates closely with the AAC, Dean (Outreach), and relevant offices.
- Type of Role: Full-Time with an initial contract of 3 years to be renewed based on performance and the Institutes needs.
- Pay: The compensation will be in the range of Rs. 24 - 30 lakhs based on competencies and experience.
