Role Summary:
The Indirect Tax Manager would be responsible for all the Indirect Tax Matters (GST, VAT/CST, Excise, Service Tax, Customs etc.) including but not restricted to Compliances, Planning, Transaction Analysis, Accounting of Indirect Taxes, Audits, Statutory Assessments, Due Diligence etc. The Indirect Tax Manager will work with Businesses, Cross Functional Teams within and outside Finance and other Tax Professionals/Service Providers in carrying out his/her responsibilities.
Required Qualifications:
Qualification: CA (mandatory)
- Proven experience in leading indirect tax vertical in a manufacturing sector.
- Good communication skills, leadership quality, the ability to collaborate with stakeholders & HODS.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyse data and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Excellent knowledge of Indirect Tax Laws (CST/VAT, Excise, Service Tax, Customs, GST), Leading on GST monthly and Annual Filings, Handling/Advising on all Indirect Tax Litigations, Financial Reporting/Disclosure as pertaining to Indirect Taxes, Guidance/Advising the Teams on Indirect Tax Matters etc.
Roles & responsibilities:
Organization Objectives:
- Monitor Legislative Changes in Tax laws that may impact on the Companys tax positions (past or present) including Tax Accounting Implications.
- Monitor adherence to companys policies and building upon robust Tax Documentation/SOPs.
- Act as the key facilitator for Tax & Risk Management and leveraging Tax opportunities.
- Advising Management for any Tax Optimization measures and identification of gaps in the processes and mitigation thereof.
Statutory/Accounting Compliances:
- Lead all the Statutory Compliances for the company regarding Indirect Tax Laws & Rules including Filings, Audits, Assessments etc.
- Management of litigations and liaison with service providers at all levels.
- Working Knowledge of Exim Matters/Compliances.
- Ensuring Nil losses on account of risks associated with GST Input Tax Credits because of Vendor Defaults.
- Responsible for Accounting of Taxes as per applicable GAAP requirements.
- Ownership of all the General Ledgers in ERP as relating to Indirect Taxes (e.g., GST liability, GST Input Tax Credit, Duty Drawback, RoDTEP, Advance Licenses, EPCG, Tax Incentives, Provisions for Taxes etc.)
Cross Functional Coordination and Contribution:
- Extensive Communication with key Stakeholders across business functions (Accounting, Supply Chain, Sourcing, Sales etc.)
- Guiding other functions by researching and interpreting various Tax laws and its application on operational matters.
- Sharing of Best Practices across functions to achieve Organization Objectives.
