
Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced HSE Manager to lead and strengthen Health, Safety, and Environment practices across manufacturing and plant operations. The role will be responsible for developing and implementing HSE standards, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing operational risks, driving safety culture, and maintaining effective environmental and emergency-response systems across plant locations.
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in HSE management, risk assessment, audits, incident investigation, legal compliance, fire and emergency management, and environmental compliance within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, standards, and governance frameworks across plant locations.
- Ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements covering Occupational Health & Safety, Environment, Fire Safety, and Hazardous Substances.
- Conduct HIRA, risk assessments, hazard identification studies, and job safety assessments and implement appropriate control measures.
- Develop, review, and standardize Safety Manuals, SOPs, Work Instructions, Emergency Response Plans, and related HSE documentation.
- Establish consistent safety processes and standards across manufacturing units and ensure periodic review and improvement.
- Conduct regular HSE audits, safety inspections, compliance assessments, and workplace risk reviews.
- Track audit findings, develop corrective and preventive action plans, and ensure timely CAPA closure.
- Lead investigations into accidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, environmental incidents, and other HSE events and conduct root-cause analysis.
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive measures to reduce incidents and strengthen operational safety.
- Plan and deliver safety inductions, HSE training, toolbox talks, awareness programs, and mock drills for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Establish and maintain effective emergency response, disaster management, fire prevention, evacuation, and crisis-response systems.
- Coordinate fire and emergency drills and evaluate preparedness and response effectiveness.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, local administration, emergency services, and external agencies when required.
- Monitor environmental compliance related to waste management, emissions, effluent treatment, hazardous waste, and pollution-control measures.
- Maintain accurate HSE records, incident reports, audit findings, compliance documentation, and statutory records.
- Analyze incident and safety trends and prepare HSE dashboards, reports, and management reviews with actionable recommendations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen safety culture, employee awareness, risk controls, and operational compliance.
- Work closely with Plant Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, HR, Security, and other functions to embed HSE requirements into day-to-day operations.
- Support management in identifying emerging HSE risks and implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Ensure contractor and visitor safety requirements are defined, communicated, and monitored across plant operations.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 10 - 16 years of experience in HSE/EHS/Safety management, preferably within manufacturing, industrial, engineering, chemical, automotive, or other plant environments.
- Strong experience in developing and implementing HSE policies, procedures, standards, and management systems.
- Strong hands-on experience in HIRA, risk assessment, hazard identification, and implementation of risk-control measures.
- Proven experience conducting HSE audits, inspections, compliance assessments, and CAPA management.
- Strong experience in accident, near-miss, and incident investigation, RCA, and corrective/preventive action management.
- Good knowledge of occupational safety, industrial safety, fire safety, hazardous substances, and emergency preparedness.
- Experience developing and conducting HSE training, safety inductions, toolbox talks, mock drills, and awareness programs.
- Strong understanding of emergency response and disaster management systems.
- Good knowledge of environmental compliance, including waste management, emissions, effluent, hazardous waste, and pollution-control requirements.
- Experience working with regulatory authorities, auditors, contractors, and external agencies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify operational risks and drive practical solutions.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, leadership, and influencing skills.
- Ability to drive a strong safety culture across employees, contractors, and plant operations.
- Strong documentation, reporting, and compliance-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage HSE priorities across multiple locations.
Preferred:
- Relevant HSE/Safety qualification or certification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent.
- Experience with recognized HSE management systems and standards such as ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
- Experience in multi-plant or geographically distributed manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with HSE management software, incident reporting systems, and digital audit platforms.
