Loan Management Unit, Wholesale Banking&nbsp; Purpose of Department :- Wholesale Credit &amp; Market Risk [WMR] is responsible for the approvals, policies, portfolio management and reporting on the Group's Wholesale Credit and Market Risk exposures. The LMU (loan management unit) Kolkata team supports North America Risk by managing / co-managing relationships within USA's CMB Business Banking, Mid-market, Large Corporate, Commercial Real Estate and Asset Based Lending portfolios as well as select GBM situations. The role entails management/ co-management of a portfolio of classified/ distressed/ non-performing exposures by identifying signs of incipient sickness and formulating exit and/or recovery strategies, whilst minimizing collection costs and credit losses, so that the risk profile of the Bank's aforesaid portfolios improve. Job Description :- The role holder will have the following broad responsibilities : - Develop and implement appropriate strategies to rehabilitate or exit criticized/ classified or exit loan relationships - Work alongside on-shore team, sharing responsibilities. Take part in credit analysis, risk assessment, day to day management/ co-management and loss estimation. This may include participation in customer contact, risk rating determination and collateral coverage estimates - Shadow- or co-manage criticized credits that have received approval to stay with the business segment line area - Actively communicate (verbal or written) with Line of Business, bank counsel, customer, customer counsel, lending group representatives, attorneys of the lending groups as well as with onshore HBUS LMU and Support (RSU) staff - Closely monitor risk events and escalate them to management on a timely basis - Prepare for and/or support audit, regulatory initiatives and internal WMR projects - Represent WMR CoE in Shared Services and New Business initiatives where required Skills / Experience Required :- - Academics - Graduate degree in accounting/ business/ finance/ economics/ related field or equivalent. Qualification in Finance/ CA/ ICWA/ CS/ CAIIB preferred. - 9 to 12 years of post-qualification experience in handling small business or commercial credits and dealing with customers and government agencies or equivalent (relevant loan workouts and/or commercial lending and/or commercial recovery experience). - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Demonstrated negotiation, problem-solving, decision - making and persuasion skills. Strong analytical skills with ability to quickly interpret data &amp; facts to arrive at meaningful conclusions and assess the business/ financial prospects of the borrowers. - Knowledge of application of law as it applies to banking, business loans, bankruptcy, contracts, securities, Uniform Commercial and Real Estate Codes - is essential - Customer centric mind-set
