HR Business Partner Chennai (Life Insurance)

Role Mix: 60% Talent Acquisition - 40% Employee Life Cycle & HRBP Delivery

Location: Chennai

JOB SUMMARY:

The HR Business Partner will drive end-to-end HR delivery for the Chennai region, with a strong focus on Talent Acquisition and frontline hiring. The role will also anchor key employee life cycle processes, partner with business leaders, and ensure seamless HR operations aligned to organisational goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Talent Acquisition (60%):

Workforce Planning & Hiring Delivery:

- Partner with business leaders to understand manpower needs and plan future hiring requirements.

- Develop accurate job descriptions and role specifications for all positions.

- Drive high-quality sourcing through databases, social platforms, referrals, and industry networks.

- Screen profiles, conduct interviews, and manage end-to-end selection processes.

- Ensure strong candidate assessment using structured interview techniques.

- Manage offer rollout, compensation fitment, negotiation, and pre-joining engagement.

- Ensure timely onboarding and completion of all hiring documentation.

- Build strong employer branding visibility across campuses, job boards, and digital platforms.

Recruitment Strategy & Reporting:

- Design and execute hiring strategies to meet business targets, especially frontline productivity roles.

- Track and publish recruitment dashboards, hiring SLAs, and funnel metrics.

- Maintain compliance with employment laws, IRDAI guidelines, and internal policies.

- Strengthen the organisations positioning as an employer of choice in the region.

2. Employee Life Cycle & HRBP Delivery (40%):

Employee Engagement & Experience:

- Drive engagement initiatives, R&R programs, and retention interventions for the Chennai region.

- Conduct regular skip-level meetings, pulse checks, and feedback sessions.

- Address employee grievances and ensure timely resolution.

Performance & Development:

- Support goal-setting, mid-year reviews, and annual appraisal cycles.

- Partner with managers to identify capability gaps and coordinate training interventions.

- Facilitate career development conversations and internal mobility.

HR Operations & Compliance:

- Manage employee onboarding, confirmation, transfers, exits, and documentation.

- Ensure adherence to statutory requirements and company policies.

- Provide HR analytics and insights to business leaders for decision-making.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

- 4 - 6 years of experience in HRBP and Talent Acquisition roles, preferably in BFSI / Life Insurance.

- Strong experience managing high-volume frontline hiring.

- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.

- Ability to work independently and take decisions confidently.

- Strong understanding of employment laws, HR processes, and compliance.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- MBA / Post-Graduate in HR from a reputed institute.

- Experience managing HR delivery for a region or business unit.

- Ability to work under tight timelines and manage multiple stakeholders.
