Key Responsibilities :
A. Clinical Responsibilities :
- Provide expert interpretation of biochemistry test results and advise clinicians on diagnosis and patient management.
- Develop, validate, and approve new biochemical assays and analytical techniques.
- Participate in multidisciplinary clinical meetings and case discussions.
- Ensure compliance with clinical governance, accreditation standards, and regulatory guidelines.
B. Laboratory Management & Quality Assurance :
- Oversee daily operations of the biochemistry laboratory, ensuring accuracy, precision, and efficiency.
- Implement and monitor internal quality control (IQC) and external quality assessment (EQA) programs.
- Ensure calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of analytical instruments.
- Supervise laboratory staff and provide professional guidance and training.
C. Research & Development :
- Lead or contribute to research projects in clinical biochemistry or related fields.
- Publish scientific findings and present at conferences.
- Evaluate and introduce technological advancements and process improvements.
D. Administrative & Leadership Duties :
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies, and laboratory protocols.
- Participate in strategic planning, budgeting, and procurement of equipment and reagents.
- Train junior doctors, scientists, and technical staff.
- Ensure adherence to safety and biosafety regulations.
