POSITION DETAILS:


Position Summary:


As the Head - Raw Material Procurement, your primary responsibility will be to develop and maintain a robust and efficient supply chain for raw material procurement, thereby supporting the manufacturing requirements of the Pharma Business Unit. The role involves active collaboration with internal stakeholders to ensure the timely and cost-effective sourcing of raw materials, managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and optimising inventory levels.


Principal Activities:


- Strategic Planning: Formulate and implement strategic plans for raw material procurement, aligning them with the manufacturing needs of the Pharma Business Unit.


- Vendor Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to secure and diversify the raw material supply chain, while negotiating favourable terms and conditions.


- Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify risks within the supply chain and introduce measures to minimise disruptions, ensuring an uninterrupted and reliable supply of raw materials for API production.


- Quality Assurance Collaboration: Work closely with quality assurance teams to confirm that all raw material suppliers adhere to high-quality standards and comply with regulatory expectations.


- Cost Optimisation: Employ effective cost-saving strategies, such as bulk purchasing and consolidating suppliers, to reduce procurement expenses and enhance the organisations financial performance.


- Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams: Coordinate with R&D, manufacturing, quality control, Quality assurance & Project Management teams to ensure that raw material procurement strategies are aligned with the broader organisational objectives.


- Process Improvement: Regularly assess and refine procurement processes to boost efficiency, shorten lead times, and strengthen supply chain resilience.


- Regulatory Compliance: Guarantee full compliance with regulatory standards, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other relevant guidelines applicable to the pharmaceutical industry.


- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and motivate a high-performing procurement team, cultivating a culture focused on excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.


- Understanding the Animal health Business and supplier base.


Qualifications:


- Bachelors /Masters degree in chemistry, Business Administration, or a related discipline.


- 15 to 20 years of proven experience in raw material procurement, preferably within the pharmaceutical sector.


- In-depth knowledge of procurement processes and industry best practices.


- Understanding of c GMP, Regulatory requirements.


- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.


- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.


- Proficiency in procurement software and relevant digital tools.


- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.


- Keen attention to detail and well-developed organisational skills.
