Key Responsibilities:
- Indirect Tax Compliance: Prepare and accurately file indirect tax returns, specifically Goods and Services Tax (GST), ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements and deadlines.
- Direct Tax Support: Prepare and file direct tax returns where applicable (e.g., property tax, gross receipts tax), and assist in collecting and analyzing financial data for corporate income tax reporting.
- Tax Research & Interpretation: Conduct thorough research and interpret indirect tax laws and regulations, staying up-to-date with changes to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Audit Support: Provide comprehensive support during tax audits by gathering requested documentation, preparing detailed responses, and responding to inquiries from various tax authorities.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and organized tax records, documentation, and work papers to substantiate tax filings and support future audits and compliance reviews.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams to ensure proper tax treatment of all financial transactions.
- Tax Planning Contribution: Contribute to tax planning strategies and initiatives aimed at minimizing indirect tax liabilities and optimizing tax efficiency.
- Project Support: Support the broader tax team with various projects and initiatives aimed at improving tax processes, compliance, or reporting.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of proven experience as a Tax Analyst or in a similar role within a finance/accounting department.
- Master's/Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional qualifications (e.g., CA, CMA) are a plus.
- Strong understanding of Indian indirect tax laws and regulations, particularly GST.
- Familiarity with direct tax concepts and corporate income tax reporting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Tally) and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, for data analysis.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate tax concepts clearly.
