Job Description:
Lead and oversee all welding operations in the shipbuilding division, ensuring high-quality welds, compliance with classification society standards, and adherence to production schedules. The role requires strong leadership in managing welding teams, process improvements, and coordination with design, production, and quality departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, plan, and monitor welding activities for new ship construction, repair, and retrofit projects.
- Ensure compliance with International Welding Standards (AWS, ASME, ISO, IACS, etc.) and customer requirements.
- Supervise the qualification and certification of welders as per classification society guidelines (DNV, ABS, LR, IRS).
- Develop welding procedures (WPS/PQR) for various materials such as steel, stainless steel, and aluminum used in shipbuilding.
- Collaborate with design and production teams to resolve welding-related technical issues.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and promote safe work practices within the welding department.
- Implement productivity improvement measures and monitor consumable usage.
- Review and approve welding schedules, manpower allocation, and equipment maintenance plans.
- Conduct root cause analysis of welding defects and ensure corrective actions.
- Liaise with third-party inspectors and classification societies for welding inspections and approvals.
