The ideal leader combines deep technical credibility with strong business acumen and the ability to influence industry direction.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Technology Strategy & Vision
- Define and own the 3 - 5 year technology roadmap for battery modules/packs, BMS, inverters, DC-DC converters, onboard chargers, and system architecture.
- Evaluate emerging technologies - advanced chemistries (Li-ion, Li-S, solid-state), wide-bandgap semiconductors (SiC/GaN), and next-gen power-electronics topologiesto drive competitive advantage.
R&D Leadership
2. Lead end-to-end R&D: conceptual design, prototyping, testing, validation, certification, and product readiness for volume manufacturing.
- Manage technical milestones such as cell selection, pack engineering, thermal management, safety systems, firmware and control algorithm development.
3.Power Electronics & System Engineering
- Oversee high-voltage power-electronics design and development, including conversion systems, motor-drive integration, embedded controls, and simulation/modelling practices. Ensure engineering excellence through robust reliability testing, failure analysis, DFM, DFA, and cost optimization.
4. Team & Organization Building
- Build, mentor and scale a multi-disciplinary engineering organization spanning mechanical, electrical, electronics, firmware, software and testing.
- Drive a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration and technical rigor.
5. Productization & Manufacturing Integration
- Partner closely with manufacturing and operations to ensure a smooth transition from lab prototypes to production-scale systems.
- Oversee pilot builds, process validation, quality systems and continuous improvement.
- Ensure adherence to global safety and regulatory standards (UN38.3, IEC 62660, ISO 26262, AIS/EV norms).
- Business Leadership & Ecosystem Engagement
- Manage R&D investments, vendor relationships, technology acquisitions, and IP strategy.
- Collaborate with supply chain to ensure resilient sourcing of cells, semiconductors and critical components.
- Represent the company with OEMs, industry bodies, academic partners, research labs and investors; contribute to consortia, conferences and standards discussions.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Masters or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Mechanical/Chemical Engineering (battery focus), or related domain.
- 14 - 20+ years of progressive leadership in EVs, battery systems, power electronics, or complex mechatronics.
- Proven track record of launching EV battery packs, BMS systems, chargers/inverters, or high-voltage power-electronics products.
- Hands-on expertise in BMS architecture, pack integration, thermal management, HV safety, SiC/GaN semiconductor design and control algorithms.
- Strong foundation in prototyping, validation, reliability engineering and scale-up manufacturing.
- Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing engineering teams.
- Strong commercial orientationcapable of aligning technology strategy with cost, quality and time-to-market goals.
- Established industry network across OEMs, suppliers, academic institutions and research organizations.
- Ability to be based in Ahmedabad and travel as required.
Preferred Attributes:
- Exposure to next-generation chemistries (solid-state, sodium-ion) or cutting-edge power-electronics architectures.
- Experience with Indian EV manufacturing and supply-chain ecosystems.
- Familiarity with global certification frameworks (US, Europe, India).
- Patents, publications or recognized contributions in batteries or power electronics.
- MBA or cross-functional business leadership experience.
