- A taxation leader who has demonstrably protected enterprise value in large, multi-state, capital-intensive businesses through strategic tax planning, litigation management, and regulatory risk leadership.
- We are seeking a senior taxation leader to head the organization's end-to-end tax function.
- The role involves driving tax strategy, ensuring full regulatory compliance, managing litigation, and optimizing the overall tax position across group entities and business operations.
- The incumbent will act as a key advisor to senior leadership on tax-efficient structuring, risk management, and governance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Tax Strategy & Planning:
- Develop and implement enterprise-level tax strategies aligned with business and investment plans
- Optimize effective tax rate through lawful tax planning and utilization of incentives and benefits
- Provide tax structuring inputs for new projects, expansions, acquisitions, and joint ventures
- Evaluate tax implications of commercial arrangements, contracts, and capital investments
2. Direct & Indirect Tax Management
- Oversee corporate tax, GST, customs, withholding tax, and transfer pricing matters
- Ensure compliance across multiple states and business entities
- Handle cross-border tax issues including foreign remittances and international structuring
3. Litigation & Assessments
- Manage tax assessments, audits, investigations, and appellate proceedings
- Develop strong litigation strategies with advisors and legal counsel
- Represent the organization before tax authorities as required
4. Compliance & Governance
- Ensure timely statutory filings and accurate tax reporting
- Strengthen internal controls, documentation, and audit readiness
- Provide tax risk reporting and dashboards to leadership
5. Business Partnering
- Act as a strategic advisor to CFO and business teams on tax matters
- Support financial reporting including provisions, deferred tax, and disclosures
- Guide tax implications in contracts, procurement, and capital decisions
6. Team & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and mentor the taxation team across entities
- Manage external consultants, auditors, and advisors
- Build strong relationships with regulatory authorities
Candidate Profile:
- Chartered Accountant (mandatory)
- 22-25 years of experience in corporate taxation
- Strong expertise in direct tax, GST, litigation, and transfer pricing
- Experience in large, multi-entity organizations preferred
- Proven leadership and stakeholder management capabilities
