Head of Systematic Investing (AIF) (20-30 yrs)

Head of Systematic Investing Founding PM role | SEBI Cat III AIF | Build India's leading quant platform

We are NOT looking for a quant researcher or strategy designer. We are looking for a senior Quant PM (15+ years Indian equity, 500Cr+ AUM experience) who has run a live systematic fund with P&L responsibility and is ready to build a platform from scratch

Location: Mumbai

Reporting To: Investment Committee/Founder

Role Summary : We are launching a series of systematic investing AIFs starting with an Absolute Returns Fund are and seeking a high-caliber Head of Systematic Investing to build and lead the systematic investment platform. The idea is to build a scalable quant platform, that can manage funds with different risk reward parameters as per client needs.

This role combines:

- Design of multiple systematic strategies and products in time

- Strong portfolio management with risk adjusted returns

- Institutional-grade risk oversight

- Fund architecture design

- Investor engagement & AUM scale-up along with the sales team

- Team and platform building

The ideal candidate brings a proven Indian equity track record and an entrepreneurial mindset to build a differentiated alternatives platform.

Key Responsibilities

Investment Strategy & Portfolio Management

- Design and execute systematic strategies can be absolute returns, long short, quant, algorithmic, options-oriented market neutral etc.

- Define gross/net exposure ranges and leverage framework.

- Deliver consistent alpha with disciplined drawdown control.

Architecture & Research

- Ensure platform is capable of onboarding PMs with different strategies (MN, Options led, directional etc.)

- Put research framework in place, to which new PMs can latch on, and add to

- Co creating tech infrastructure for the platform

Allocation & Risk Management

- Allocate fund AUM to different strategies

- Identify strategy mix for funds, to suit client needs

- Ensure adherence to SEBI Category III AIF regulations.

- Monitor leverage, liquidity, sector exposure, and concentration limits.

- Establish portfolio risk dashboards and stress-testing framework.

- Coordinate with compliance, fund administrators, custodians, and auditors.

Platform & Team Building (Founding Mandate)

- Evaluate, hire PMs as the platform grows

- Ongoing evaluation of PM strategy performance

- Act in the capacity of a PM

- Implement risk systems, OMS/PMS infrastructure.

- Contribute to PPM drafting and investment mandate articulation.

Communication & Fundraising

- Work on creating and sharpening our pitch for clients

- Periodic outgoing communication regarding fund level performance and environment

- Support long-term AUM scale-up strategy.

Candidate Profile

- 15+ years in Indian equity markets.

- Demonstrated alpha generation (long/short preferred).

- Quant skills: ability to build and evaluate strategies

- Strong derivatives and hedging expertise.

- Best in class quantitative skills

- Experience in AIF / PMS / hedge fund / proprietary desk preferred.

- Prior PM experience.

- Strong network across brokers, allocators, and institutional ecosystem.
