Job Description: Head of Supply Chain
Position Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned Head of Supply Chain with deep expertise in manufacturing operations to lead and optimize our end-to-end supply chain function. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert (SME) in supply chain management, with proven experience in planning, procurement, logistics, and distribution. This role is critical in driving operational excellence, ensuring cost efficiency, and enabling seamless product availability across markets.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning & S&OP:
- Lead demand, supply, and production planning to align business objectives with operational capabilities.
- Drive Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes to balance demand forecasts with supply constraints.
- Oversee inventory planning to optimize stock levels, reduce working capital, and prevent shortages or excesses.
- Manage warehouse and material planning to ensure timely availability of raw materials and finished goods.
Procurement:
- Develop and execute procurement strategies that ensure cost-effective sourcing while maintaining quality and compliance.
- Implement risk management strategies to mitigate supply disruptions.
- Identify potential vendors / suppliers, gather and analyse market information; recommends prospective vendors to senior leadership.
- Identify cost drivers within supply chain processes, initiate cost saving measures.
- Guide the team / advise and maintain contact with various vendors, and government agencies such as customs and related agencies.
- Leads the team in negotiations and ensuring that vendor contracts are compliant as per internal and external auditory and regulatory compliances
- Evaluate vendor performance and recommend strategy to the management
- Periodically assesses inventories and compares with market activity; may recommend adjustment of the procurement plan to top management
- Build strong supplier relationships and negotiate contracts to secure competitive advantage.
Logistics & Distribution:
- Oversee warehousing, distribution, and transportation operations to ensure timely and efficient delivery.
- Optimize logistics networks to reduce costs and improve service levels.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in warehouse automation, route optimization, and last-mile delivery.
Leadership & Strategy:- Provide strategic direction for the supply chain function, aligning with overall business goals.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing supply chain team.
- Champion digital transformation initiatives, leveraging technology for enhanced visibility and efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, or related field.
- 18 -20 years of progressive experience in supply chain management within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven expertise in planning, procurement, logistics, and distribution.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems, advanced planning tools, and supply chain analytics.
- Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and driving operational excellence.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
