Job Title: Head SCM


Department: CBD Operations

Location: MTK Plant


Reports To: Chief Manufacturing / Plant Head / BU Head


PURPOSE:


This position is responsible for developing and executing supply chain strategies that ensure uninterrupted in flow and inventory of raw material and its management , distribution of packed Materials with optimized logistics plan through in road supply within India and Abroad , effective production planning & scheduling, , warehouse management and efficiency, and cost effective distribution for the Carbon Black manufacturing plant. The role requires balancing efficiency, cost and service levels, while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and sustainability standards.

KEY RESULT AREAS:


Strategic Supply Chain Planning:


- Develop and implement SCM strategies aligned with plant and business objectives.

- Forecast demand and supply based on market trends, customer requirements, and production plans.

- Ensure business continuity by planning buffer stocks, alternative sourcing, and risk mitigation.


Raw Material Management


- Identify, evaluate, and qualify vendors for critical raw materials (e.g., carbon black feedstock oils, additives, chemicals).

- Ensure timely procurement, quality compliance, and cost competitiveness.


- Negotiate long-term contracts and spot purchases.


Production Planning & Control (PPC)


- Develop Master Production Schedule (MPS) based on sales forecasts and inventory levels.

- Monitor production capacity utilization, demand-supply gaps, and lead time adherence.

- Coordinate with Operations and Quality for smooth execution.


Logistics & Distribution


- Optimize inbound & outbound logistics (road, rail, sea as applicable).

- Manage transporters, freight contracts, and logistics partners.

- Ensure cost efficiency, on-time delivery, and safety compliance.


Warehouse & Inventory Management


- Oversee raw material, intermediate, and finished goods warehouse operations.

- Maintain stock accuracy, inventory turnover, and FIFO/FEFO adherence.

- Implement digital tools (SAP / ERP / WMS) for inventory visibility.


Cost & Efficiency Management


- Drive cost reduction initiatives in procurement, warehousing, and logistics.

- Optimize working capital by controlling inventory days and payment terms.

- Benchmark and adopt best practices in SCM.


Compliance & Risk Management

- Ensure compliance with statutory, safety, environmental, and sustainability norms.

- Monitor SCM risks (supply disruptions, transport strikes, price volatility) and prepare

contingency plans.


People Leadership


- Lead, mentor, and develop SCM, PPC, warehouse, and logistics teams.


- Build cross-functional collaboration with Production, QA/QC, Maintenance, Finance, and Sales.

- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

- HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) Compliance & Risk Management Ensure safe storage/handling of chemicals, compliance with safety norms in logistics & warehouse, drive sustainability initiatives.

- HR & Admin People Development & Compliance Collaborate on training SCM staff, labor availability for warehouse/logistics, and compliance with labor policies.

QUALIFICATIONS:


- Bachelors in Engineering (Chemical / Mechanical / Industrial) or Masters in Supply Chain / Operations Management / MBA (Preferred).


EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:


- 15+ years of total experience in SCM in process / chemical / carbon black / petrochemical / tire / energy industry.

- Minimum 7 years in leadership role managing Procurement, PPC, Logistics & Warehouse.
