Role Summary: To provide strategic leadership to the supply chain function by managing procurement, stores, inventory planning, logistics, and vendor development, ensuring reliable material availability, operational continuity, cost competitiveness, and efficient supply chain processes in line with the organizations business objectives.

Responsibilities:

Supply Chain Strategy:


- Develop and implement supply chain strategies aligned with business and production objectives.


- Plan and manage annual procurement budgets and cost optimization initiatives.


- Identify supply chain risks and implement mitigation strategies.

Budget preparation and monitoring:


- Review and monitor monthly budgets related to administration, automobile, plant operations, and other support functions.


- Ensure expenses remain within approved budgets through regular monitoring and cost-control measures.

Process improvements:


- Ensure implementation and sustenance of 5S practices in stores and procurement functions.


- Drive automation and digitalization initiatives to improve operational efficiency and transparency.


- Develop, standardize, and implement SOPs and process improvements across stores and procurement functions.

Procurement & Vendor Management:


- Lead procurement of consumables, spares, and services.


- Negotiate pricing, finalize contracts, and manage commercial terms with vendors.


- Develop and monitor vendor performance and strategic vendor partnerships.


- Ensure timely availability of materials to support uninterrupted production.

Inventory & Stores Management:


- Creating Min-Max and EOQ levels of all line items


- Maintain optimal inventory levels using Min-Max and EOQ methodologies.


- Reduce slow-moving and non-moving inventory.


- Ensure ERP-based inventory tracking and stock accuracy.


- Implement FIFO / FEFO inventory practices.

Logistics Management:


- Manage inbound logistics operations for consumables, spares, and services.


- Optimize transportation and logistics costs through effective planning and vendor management.

Cross Functional Coordination:


- Collaborate with Production, Finance, Maintenance, Projects, and other departments.


- Support plant shutdown planning and expansion projects.


- Present MIS reports, procurement analytics, and cost-saving initiatives to senior management.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):


- Inventory Turnover Ratio


- Procurement Cost Savings


- Vendor Performance Index


- On-Time Delivery (OTD)


- Procurement Cycle Time


- Working Capital Optimization


- Systems and processes development and implementation


- Processes automation / digitalisation

Qualification & Experience:


- MBA in Supply Chain / Operations / Materials Management (Preferred)

Experience - 10 to 15 years of experience in Supply Chain / Procurement / Materials Management in steel, metals, mining, power, or heavy manufacturing industries.

- Minimum 5+ years in leadership role managing procurement, stores, and logistics
