About the role:
Company is looking for a Head Supply chain & Procurement to build and lead the strategic sourcing and procurement function as the company scales its manufacturing operations. The role offers an opportunity to build the sourcing function, processes, systems, supplier network and team from the ground up in a highly engineering-driven and fast-scaling environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing & Procurement:
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for critical components, raw materials, assemblies and engineered parts.
- Own the end-to-end strategic procurement lifecycle, from supplier identification and evaluation to commercial negotiations and contracting.
- Build a strong and scalable supplier ecosystem aligned with quality, cost, delivery and technology requirements.
- Identify alternate sources and develop a resilient, risk-mitigated supply base for critical components.
Supplier Development & Management:
- Identify, evaluate, onboard and develop strategic suppliers across domestic and international markets.
- Build long-term supplier partnerships for critical and high-value components.
- Drive supplier performance across quality, cost, delivery and responsiveness.
- Work closely with Quality and Engineering teams on supplier audits, qualification and development.
- Establish supplier governance mechanisms, performance metrics and review processes.
Cost Optimization:
- Lead strategic negotiations and commercial closure with key suppliers.
- Drive BOM cost reduction, should-cost analysis, value engineering and cost optimization initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for localization, alternate materials, alternate suppliers and design-to-cost.
- Develop long-term cost reduction strategies without compromising quality or product reliability.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Partner closely with Engineering and R&D teams to understand product specifications, technical requirements and sourcing challenges.
- Work with Manufacturing and Operations teams to ensure material availability and production continuity.
- Collaborate with Finance on procurement budgets, working capital, commercial terms and cost controls.
- Partner with leadership on strategic sourcing decisions, supplier concentration risks and capacity planning.
Process & Function Building:
- Build procurement processes, policies, SOPs and governance mechanisms from the ground up.
- Establish procurement systems, dashboards, KPIs and supplier performance tracking.
- Build a structured framework for supplier qualification, onboarding, evaluation and risk management.
- Develop and lead a high-performing sourcing and procurement team as the function scales.
Desired Experience & Skills:
- 10+ years of experience in Strategic Sourcing, Procurement or Supply Chain, with significant exposure to procurement leadership.
- Strong experience in aerospace, defence, space-tech, automotive, industrial manufacturing, electronics, precision engineering or other complex engineering environments.
- Proven experience managing complex BOMs, engineered components and critical parts.
- Strong expertise in strategic sourcing, vendor development, supplier negotiations and cost optimization.
- Demonstrated ability to build and scale a supplier ecosystem from scratch.
- Experience with supplier qualification, audits, quality requirements and risk mitigation.
