Role Purpose

The Head - Supply Chain is responsible for designing, leading, and executing the end-to-end supply chain strategy to enhance operational efficiency, optimize costs, and ensure seamless flow of materials, information, and products. This leadership role encompasses demand and supply planning, procurement, logistics (inbound and outbound), inventory optimization, export-import operations, supplier relationship management, and customer collaboration, aligned with the organization's strategic objectives and growth plans.

Key Responsibilities

A. Strategic Leadership & Governance

- Develop and implement an integrated supply chain strategy aligned with overall business goals.

- Drive transformation initiatives to improve resilience, agility, and supply chain excellence.

- Partner with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to align supply chain priorities with corporate strategy.

- Establish governance frameworks, policies, and performance metrics across the supply chain.

B. Demand & Supply Planning

- Design and implement robust demand forecasting, supply planning, and inventory optimization processes.

- Lead the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process to balance demand, supply, and financial objectives.

- Collaborate with key customers to improve demand visibility and translate forecasts into executable production and supply plans.

- Work closely with sales, production, finance, and other stakeholders to incorporate market trends, material availability, cost controls, and budgeting inputs.

- Track and improve key KPIs such as forecast accuracy, inventory turns, working capital efficiency, and OTIF (On-Time In-Full).

C. Procurement & Strategic Sourcing

- Define and execute procurement strategies aligned with business objectives.

- Collaborate with internal teams to forecast demand and plan purchasing schedules to prevent stockouts or excess inventory.

- Lead vendor development, negotiations, cost optimization, and strategic sourcing initiatives.

- Oversee purchase order management, order tracking, and timely delivery of materials.

- Ensure effective coordination between stores, warehouses, and logistics teams for smooth material movement.

- Maintain accurate documentation, audit trails, supplier contracts, approvals, and procurement records.

- Monitor procurement KPIs and prepare performance reports.

- Promote sustainable and ethical sourcing practices, including compliance with environmental, labor, and safety standards.

D. Operations & Process Excellence

- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or other operational excellence methodologies.

- Implement and optimize supply chain technologies such as ERP, WMS, and related digital tools to enhance visibility and efficiency.

- Standardize processes and SOPs across supply chain functions to improve consistency and scalability.

E. Risk Management & Compliance

- Identify supply chain risks and develop proactive mitigation and business continuity plans.

- Ensure compliance with applicable trade regulations, statutory requirements, environmental norms, and corporate governance standards.

- Oversee export-import operations and regulatory adherence where applicable.

F. Strategic Vendor Development

- Identify, evaluate, and develop strategic suppliers to build long-term partnerships.

- Collaborate with suppliers to drive cost savings, quality improvement, innovation, and risk mitigation.

- Strengthen supplier performance management and capability development.

G. Audit, Controls & Compliance

- Ensure end-to-end supply chain compliance with internal policies, external regulations, and industry standards.

- Lead and support internal and external audits, including supplier audits.

- Strengthen control mechanisms and corrective action processes.

H. Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management

- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing supply chain team.

- Coach and mentor team members to enhance capability, accountability, and engagement.

- Collaborate with business unit leaders, finance teams, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and execution.

- Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation.

- Establish clear KPIs, SOPs, and performance review mechanisms.
