Position Summary

The Head of Sales and Operations (India & Subcontinent) will play a key role in managing and overseeing both the sales strategy and operational execution in India and the surrounding subcontinent. This role combines responsibility for driving revenue growth, developing sales strategies, and ensuring efficient day-to-day operations that support the business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

- Sales & Business Development: lead and drive sales strategy, identifying new business opportunities, partnerships, and expanding the customer base to drive revenue growth.

- Sales Team Leadership: manage, mentor, and motivate the sales team to meet and exceed targets, ensuring they have the necessary tools, training, and support.

- Operations Management: oversee daily operations to ensure alignment with sales goals, optimize processes, and drive operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

- Customer Relationship Management: build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, ensuring excellent customer service and active participation in major negotiations.

- Forecasting & Planning: monitor sales performance, track market trends, and provide regular updates to senior management, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and business plans.

Cost Management & Profitability: manage resources effectively to meet both sales and operational objectives, ensuring cost efficiency and profitability.

- Compliance & Legal: ensure operations comply with Indian regulations and provide regular updates to senior management on progress, challenges, and market trends.

- Reporting & Communication: Provide detailed reports and maintain clear communication with the headquarter, ensuring transparency and alignment on sales performance and operational activities.

- Strategic Oversight: Collaborate with senior leadership to define and implement strategic business plans, including the transition from a dealer-based model to direct operations in India.

Qualifications

- Experience: minimum 10 years of experience in operations management and sales leadership roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a multinational company.

- Industry experience: at least 5 years in sales and operations within the material handling or industrial equipment sectors.

- Education: a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field. An MBA is a plus.

- Language: high proficiency in English is a must.

Skills:

- Strong leadership and team management skills

- Expertise in sales strategy development and execution

- In-depth knowledge of Indian market dynamics and business culture

- Excellent communication and negotiation skills

- Financial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets and operational costs

- Familiarity with Indian regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements

- Customer-centric approach with a focus on revenue growth and market expansion

- Strategic thinking with a hands-on approach to problem-solving

Employment Terms

Location: Pune, India
