
Job Overview:
The R&D Head will lead innovation, product development, and technical advancement in the paints & coatings segment. This role requires expertise in developing new paint formulations, improving product performance, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and driving cost optimization. The position involves leading R&D projects aligned with market needs and business strategy, while fostering a culture of innovation and excellence with a primary focus on PU, Epoxy, and Alkyd systems for general industrial applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the R&D function.
- Develop new paint formulations and enhance existing products for performance, cost efficiency, and sustainability.
- Ensure all formulations comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental norms.
- Conduct research on raw materials, pigments, resins, and additives to optimize performance.
- Collaborate with production, quality control, and sales to ensure smooth scale-up and commercialization of new products.
- Monitor competitor products, and technological advancements in coatings.
- Oversee paint trials at client sites and support technical services for key customers.
- Manage budgeting, resource planning, and infrastructure development for R&D.
- Mentor and develop R&D professionals to build a strong technical workforce.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Masters/PhD in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Paint Technology, or related field.
- 12-18 years of experience in the paint & coatings industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of resins, pigments, additives, and coating technologies.
- Proven track record of successful product development and commercialization.
- Strong understanding of application techniques, durability testing, and accelerated weathering protocols.
- Understanding of regulatory compliance, quality standards, and sustainability trends.
