Role Overview:

We are looking for an accomplished Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) / Head - R&D to lead the organisation's overall research and development strategy and product development initiatives.

The incumbent will be responsible for building a robust innovation pipeline, driving end-to-end product development from concept to commercialisation, strengthening technical capabilities and ensuring alignment of R&D initiatives with the organisation's business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and lead the overall R&D strategy and product development roadmap in alignment with business objectives.

- Identify and evaluate new products, technologies, therapeutic opportunities and development projects.

- Drive end-to-end product development, from concept, feasibility and development through scale-up, technology transfer and commercialisation.

- Lead formulation development, analytical development and process development activities.

- Strengthen R&D systems, processes, documentation and scientific capabilities.

- Collaborate with Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing and Business Development teams to ensure successful product launches.

- Evaluate external technologies, licensing opportunities, strategic partnerships and contract development opportunities.

- Build, lead and mentor a high-performing R&D team while developing technical leadership within the organisation.

- Establish R&D timelines, budgets, milestones and performance metrics.

- Provide technical leadership in resolving complex development, scale-up and manufacturing challenges.

- Represent the organisation in technical discussions with customers, technology partners and external stakeholders.

- Drive a culture of innovation, scientific excellence, quality and speed-to-market.

Desired Candidate Profile:

- PhD / M.Pharm / M.Tech or equivalent qualification in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.

- 18 - 25+ years of experience in pharmaceutical R&D, product development or technical leadership.

- Proven experience in leading R&D teams within a pharmaceutical organisation.

- Strong expertise in formulation development, product development and technology transfer.

- Hands-on exposure to scale-up, process optimisation and commercialisation.

- Experience working closely with Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing and Commercial teams.

- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical development, technical documentation and regulatory expectations.

- Demonstrated ability to build product pipelines and deliver development projects within defined timelines and budgets.

- Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills.

- Commercially oriented approach towards R&D and innovation.

Preferred Experience:

- Experience in Indian pharmaceutical / speciality formulation companies.

- Exposure to injectable and lyophilized formulations would be advantageous.

- Experience in product licensing, technology partnerships, contract development and international markets will be preferred.
