Position: Head - Reinsurance, Surety & Credit Risk

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced insurance professional to lead and build the Reinsurance, Surety & Credit Risk business for a growing insurance intermediary.

The role involves establishing and scaling reinsurance capabilities, driving business development, underwriting complex risks, structuring innovative insurance and reinsurance solutions, negotiating capacity and pricing, developing market relationships, and building a high-performing technical team.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Reinsurance Business Development & Placement:

- Lead the development and expansion of the reinsurance business, identifying new business opportunities and market segments.

- Manage end-to-end reinsurance placements, including market approach, capacity sourcing, pricing, terms, conditions and documentation.

- Structure and negotiate reinsurance arrangements for complex corporate and specialty risks.

- Develop strong relationships with domestic and international reinsurers, insurers and capacity providers.

- Negotiate premiums, commissions, collateral, limits, tenor and coverage terms.

2. Surety, Credit Insurance & Risk Underwriting:

- Lead underwriting of Surety Bonds and Credit Insurance across MSME, mid-market and corporate clients.

- Conduct detailed financial analysis, credit assessment and counterparty risk evaluation.

- Structure customized insurance and reinsurance solutions based on client requirements.

- Establish robust underwriting, pricing, placement and risk management frameworks.

3. Business Development & Market Expansion:

- Drive business development and revenue growth across Reinsurance, Surety, Credit Insurance and Specialty Risk solutions.

- Identify new corporate clients, distribution opportunities and strategic partnerships.

- Collaborate with sales and business teams to develop customized risk solutions.

- Support market expansion and development of new insurance and reinsurance products.

4. Risk Management & Regulatory Compliance:

- Monitor portfolio performance, exposures and concentration risks.

- Leverage financial models, risk scorecards and technology-enabled assessment tools.

- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, internal risk policies and underwriting guidelines.

- Work closely with senior management on reinsurance strategy, risk appetite and market development.

5. Team Building & Leadership:

- Build and lead the Reinsurance, Surety & Credit Risk function.

- Recruit, mentor and develop underwriting, placement and business development professionals.

- Establish scalable processes, technical capabilities and performance standards.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

- Strong experience in Reinsurance, Surety, Credit Insurance and/or Specialty Risk.

- Proven experience in reinsurance business development, market expansion and end-to-end placement.

- Strong understanding of financial analysis, credit underwriting and risk assessment.

- Hands-on experience in pricing, capacity negotiations and structuring complex risk solutions.

- Established relationships with domestic and international insurers and reinsurers.

- Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills and stakeholder management capabilities.

- Demonstrated ability to build and lead teams and develop new business verticals.
