Ideal Candidate:
- 18+ years of strong experience in Raw Material Procurement / Strategic Sourcing.
- Proven track record of sourcing domestically as well as internationally.
- Must be a strong negotiator and market-savvy sourcing professional with deep understanding of commodity markets.
- Experience in managing high-value raw material categories, strategic suppliers and large procurement spends.
- Strong leadership capability with exposure to senior management / CXO-level negotiations and decision-making.
Role Purpose:
- Lead the end-to-end sourcing strategy for critical raw materials from domestic and international markets.
- Build a competitive, reliable and globally diversified supplier base.
- Drive cost optimization, strategic sourcing, supply security and long-term supplier partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Domestic and International Sourcing:
- Lead sourcing of key raw materials from India and international markets.
- Identify and develop global suppliers, manufacturers and alternate sources.
- Evaluate suppliers on cost, quality, capacity, technology, delivery and financial strength.
- Develop dual/multi-sourcing strategies for critical materials.
2. Cost and Commercial Management:
- Lead price negotiations, annual rate contracts and long-term supply agreements.
- Develop commodity-wise should-cost / cost benchmarking models.
- Track global commodity prices, indices, FX movements, freight and duties.
- Drive year-on-year procurement savings and cost reduction.
- Evaluate Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and landed-cost competitiveness.
3. Raw Material Market Intelligence:
- Monitor global commodity trends, supply-demand, pricing and geopolitical risks.
- Develop sourcing strategies based on market forecasts and consumption patterns.
- Analyse steel / metals / alloys / industrial raw material markets, as applicable.
- Identify opportunities for direct imports, strategic stocking and alternate materials/suppliers.
4. Import and International Procurement:
- Manage international sourcing including RFQ, commercial negotiations, Incoterms, freight, insurance, customs duties and landed cost.
- Coordinate with Finance, Logistics, Quality and Legal teams for international procurement.
- Evaluate FOB/CIF/CFR/EXW commercial structures and optimize sourcing economics.
5. Supplier Development and Governance:
- Build strategic relationships with key domestic and global suppliers.
- Establish supplier performance metrics covering Quality, Cost, Delivery, Capacity and Responsiveness.
- Conduct supplier audits/development programs with Quality and Technical teams.
- Manage supplier risks, shortages, claims and commercial escalations.
6. Supply Security and Planning:
- Ensure uninterrupted availability of critical raw materials.
- Work closely with Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Finance and Logistics.
- Develop strategies for lead-time reduction, inventory optimization and working-capital improvement.
- Establish contingency plans for supply disruptions and volatile commodities.
7. Leadership Expectations:
- Lead and mentor the Raw Material / Strategic Sourcing team.
- Develop annual sourcing budgets, category strategies and procurement KPIs.
- Present cost, savings, market trends, supplier risks and sourcing strategies to senior management.
- Lead strategic negotiations with large domestic and international suppliers.
