Job Description : Head R & D & QC
1. Position Overview
The Head (R&D) will leading organization in the chemical sector, driving innovation, developing new chemical products, improving existing processes, and ensuring the organization remains technologically competitive. The role demands a strategic thinker with deep technical expertise in chemical process/product development, strong leadership capability, and an ability to convert scientific insights into commercial outcomes.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the R&D strategy aligned with the overall business goals. This involves identifying areas for research, setting priorities, and allocating resources effectively.
- Lead a team of researchers, scientists, engineers, and technicians. Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the team achieves its objectives.
- Direct and coordinate research activities aimed at developing new products, improving existing processes, and solving technical challenges. This includes designing experiments, analyzing data, and interpreting results.
- Drive the development of new chemical products or formulations, from conceptualization to commercialization. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, marketing, and sales, to ensure products meet market needs and regulatory requirements.
- Identify opportunities to optimize manufacturing processes, enhance product quality, and reduce production costs. Implement new technologies or process improvements to increase efficiency and productivity.
- Ensure that all R&D activities comply with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols. Implement quality control measures to maintain product consistency and safety.
- Develop and manage the R&D budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and cost-effective decision-making. Evaluate capital expenditure proposals and justify investments in new equipment or facilities.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive developments. Evaluate potential partnerships, collaborations, or acquisitions to enhance the plant's R&D capabilities.
- Protect the company's intellectual property by identifying patentable inventions and filing patent applications as necessary. Ensure compliance with intellectual property laws and regulations.
- Communicate R&D initiatives, progress, and outcomes to senior management, stakeholders, and external partners. Prepare regular reports, presentations, and technical documentation to support decision-making and funding requests.
- Foster a culture of innovation, creativity, and continuous improvement within the R&D team. Encourage experimentation, knowledge sharing, and cross-functional collaboration to drive breakthroughs and advancements.
- Identify potential risks and challenges associated with R&D projects and develop mitigation strategies. Proactively address technical, regulatory, or market-related obstacles to ensure project success.
- Oversee the testing and analysis of raw materials, intermediate products, and final products using a variety of analytical techniques and instrumentation.
- Develop and implement quality control policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Design and maintain quality control systems to monitor and evaluate production processes, identifying areas for improvement.
- Provide leadership and guidance to ensure team members understand their roles and responsibilities in maintaining quality standards.
3. Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of chemical synthesis, process chemistry, scale-up techniques, reaction engineering, and analytical chemistry.
- Developed product with multi steps synthesis in different chemistry including chlorination, Fluorination, Nitration, bromination etc.
- Experience in handling hazardous chemicals and complex reactions (e.g., chlorination, nitration, sulfation, etc., depending on Transpek's product lines).
- Understanding of regulatory, environmental, and quality norms in chemical manufacturing.
- Expertise in experimental design, data analysis, statistical tools, and process simulation software.
Leadership & Behavioral Skills

4. Preferred Qualifications
Education
- Ph.D. in Chemistry / Applied Chemistry or Master's in Chemistry with extensive industrial R&D experience.
5. Experience
- 25+ years of experience in chemical R&D, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of developing and commercializing chemical products/processes.
- Experience in specialty chemicals, intermediates, or related chemical manufacturing segments
