Position - Head NPD (GM Level ) Location - Delhi Role & Responsibility : The incumbent will oversee the NPD processes, from ideation to commercialization, ensuring alignment with market trends, regulatory standards, and business objectives. This role requires a blend of strategic vision, technical expertise, and leadership skills to drive product innovation and sustainability in food segment. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership - Develop and execute the NPD strategy for food products, including staple and specialty products, aligning with organizational goals and market trends. - Oversee the entire lifecycle of product development, including formulation, processing, packaging, and certifications, ensuring compliance with relevant food safety and quality standards. - Foster a culture of innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement within the NPD team, focusing on enhancing nutritional value, export readiness, and production efficiency. - Build a robust pipeline of health-conscious, organic, and specialty-based products while integrating sustainable practices into the development of staple and other food products New Product Development - Lead the ideation, formulation, and development of new food products, ensuring they meet consumer preferences and export requirements. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams (marketing, production, sales, and regulatory) to align product development with market needs and achieve successful launches. - Establish robust lab-to-market processes, including prototype development, market testing, and scaling to production. - Drive the use of innovative ingredients and processes to enhance product quality, differentiation, and export potential. Research and Innovation - Set up and manage advanced NPD laboratories, ensuring state-of-the-art facilities for product development, testing, and quality assurance. - Explore and implement advanced technologies for product development, including alternative sweeteners, functional ingredients, and by-product utilization (e.g., bagasse, molasses). - Promote sustainability through eco-friendly packaging, energy-efficient processes, and waste reduction strategies. - Stay updated on global industry trends, emerging consumer demands, and advancements in food processing for export markets. Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance - Ensure all products comply with domestic and international food safety standards (FSSAI, FDA, EU, etc.), especially for export readiness. - Oversee quality assurance processes to maintain exceptional standards in product safety, taste, shelf stability, and certification compliance. - Manage certification processes (e.g., ISO, HACCP, Organic, Halal, Kosher) to meet market and export requirements. - Standardize documentation and ensure process consistency for NPD activities and certifications. Production Optimization - Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize production processes for scalability, cost efficiency, and sustainability. - Troubleshoot production challenges, ensuring smooth transitions from pilot batches to full-scale manufacturing. - Integrate sustainable practices in production, including energy efficiency, reduced emissions, and waste management. Lab Setup and Operations - Establish and maintain well-equipped R&D laboratories for testing and validation of new products. - Manage lab operations, ensuring precision in ingredient analysis, prototype development, and quality testing. - Conduct detailed feasibility studies and pilot trials to support lab-to-market processes. Exports and Market Expansion - Develop NPD strategies tailored for international markets, focusing on export-ready formulations and packaging. - Ensure compliance with export regulations, certifications, and standards specific to target markets. - Coordinate with marketing and sales teams to position products effectively in global markets. Financial Management - Develop and manage budgets for NPD projects, including lab setup, certifications, and sustainability initiatives. - Optimize resource allocation to ensure cost-effective product development and continuous cost improvements. Team Leadership and Development - Lead, mentor, and inspire the NPD and R&D teams to excel in product development and lab operations. - Foster collaboration, skill development, and cross-functional innovation within the team. Post-Launch Support and Market Insights - Monitor product performance in domestic and international markets, identifying areas for improvement. - Gather consumer and market feedback, integrating insights into future product iterations. - Support marketing and sales teams with technical expertise during domestic and export product launches. Qualifications and Skills: - Education: Master's/PhD in Food Technology, Food Science, or related fields. - Experience: Minimum 10-15 years in R&D and NPD roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership position, preferably in sugar-based or FMCG food industries. - Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of sugar processing, alternative sweeteners, and food safety regulations. - Innovation Mindset: Proven track record in creating innovative and sustainable food products. - Leadership Skills: Exceptional ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects. - Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. - Communication: Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills to convey technical insights effectively.
