Role Overview:
The Head - QHSE will be responsible for establishing, implementing, and continuously improving the Quality Management and Safety systems across the organizations power infrastructure projects including transmission lines, substations, EPC works, and related infrastructure.
The role will focus primarily on Quality leadership, ensuring adherence to project specifications, regulatory standards, and client requirements, while also driving safety culture, practices and compliance across all project sites.
Quality Strategy & Governance:- Develop and implement the organization-wide Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with ISO 9001 and industry standards.
- Establish quality policies, procedures, SOPs, and inspection protocols for EPC power projects.
- Drive quality assurance and quality control frameworks across project lifecycle.
Project Quality Management:- Ensure compliance with technical specifications, drawings, BOQ, and contractual quality requirements.
- Monitor quality performance across transmission line, substation, and power infrastructure projects.
- Implement Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), Method Statements, and Quality Plans.
Vendor & Material Quality:- Lead vendor qualification, audits, and material quality approvals.
- Ensure incoming material inspection and certification compliance.
- Manage quality control for critical materials such as conductors, transformers, towers, cables, insulators, etc.
Audits & Continuous Improvement:- Conduct internal quality audits and site inspections.
- Lead client audits, third-party inspections, and certification audits.
- Drive root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Documentation & Compliance:- Ensure proper quality documentation, project dossiers, and handover documentation.
- Monitor compliance with client specifications, regulatory standards, and contractual obligations.
Safety Strategy & Compliance:- Develop and implement Health & Safety policies and systems aligned with ISO 45001 and statutory requirements.
- Promote a strong safety culture across all project sites.
Site Safety Management:- Ensure implementation of site safety plans, risk assessments, and permit systems.
- Monitor compliance with PPE, working at height safety, electrical safety, and equipment safety.
Incident Prevention & Investigation:- Lead incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Drive zero-harm safety culture and hazard reporting.
Safety Training & Awareness:- Conduct safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness programs.
- Ensure contractor and workforce safety competency.
Leadership Responsibilities:- Lead and mentor the central Quality and Safety teams.
- Coordinate with Projects, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction teams.
- Support project teams in resolving quality and safety issues.
- Develop quality and safety KPIs and reporting dashboards.
Qualifications & Skills set:- Bachelors degree in engineering (Electrical / Mechanical / Civil)
- Masters degree preferred (Engineering / Quality / Operations Management)
- Certifications (Preferred) - ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, NEBOSH / IOSH / Safety Certification, Six Sigma / Quality Management Certification
- 18-25 years of experience in Infrastructure / Power / EPC industry
- Minimum 8-10 years in leadership roles in Quality or QHSE
- Strong experience in Transmission Lines, Substations, or Power EPC projects
