Description: We are seeking an exceptionally experienced and strategic Head of Quality Control (QC) to establish, lead, and manage the quality assurance and quality control functions across our construction projects.
This senior leadership role requires a professional with deep technical expertise in construction materials, methods, and specifications, and a proven track record of implementing comprehensive QC programs to ensure projects meet the highest standards of engineering, regulatory compliance, and client satisfaction.
The Head of QC will be responsible for defining the quality strategy, developing standardized procedures, leading QC teams, and driving a culture of "building it right the first time."
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & System Management:
- Quality Strategy: Define the overall Quality Control (QC) strategy and Quality Management System (QMS) for the organization, aligning it with company objectives, industry best practices, and international standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Policy & Procedure Development: Establish, implement, and maintain standardized Quality Control Plans (QCPs), Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, and technical procedures across all project sites.
- Team Leadership & Development: Recruit, lead, mentor, and manage a team of dedicated QC Engineers, Inspectors, and Lab Technicians across multiple project locations.
- Budget Management: Manage the QC department budget, including resource allocation for testing equipment, external laboratories, and personnel.
Project Execution & Control:
- Inspection & Testing: Oversee all QC activities on site, including concrete testing, soil testing, material inspection, structural inspections, and finishing work inspections, ensuring strict adherence to project specifications and approved ITPs.
- Materials Management: Develop and enforce rigorous procedures for the inspection, approval, storage, and traceability of all incoming materials, ensuring they meet specified requirements before incorporation into the work.
- Non-Conformance Management: Establish and manage the Non-Conformance Reporting (NCR) and Corrective/Preventive Action (CAPA) process to promptly identify, document, isolate, and rectify quality deficiencies.
- Documentation & Handover: Ensure all quality records, test reports, inspection reports, and certifications are meticulously maintained, compiled, and presented for final client handover and statutory compliance.
Collaboration, Audit & Compliance:
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the Engineering, Project Management, Procurement, and Construction teams to proactively identify quality risks and integrate quality requirements into planning and execution phases.
- Auditing: Plan and conduct internal and external quality audits of project sites, suppliers, and subcontractors to verify compliance with the QMS and contractual requirements.
- Statutory Compliance: Ensure all project activities adhere to relevant building codes, safety regulations, and local authority requirements related to construction quality.
- Continuous Improvement: Analyze quality data and metrics to identify trends, root causes of quality failures, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance construction efficiency and quality standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related technical field (e.g., Construction Management).
- Experience: Minimum 15+ years of progressive experience in Quality Control or Quality Assurance roles within the construction industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or Head of QC position.
Technical Expertise:
- Deep knowledge of construction methods, materials, codes, and standards (e.g., relevant ASTM, ISO, local building codes).
- Expertise in developing and executing Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and managing on-site testing laboratories.
- Proven experience in implementing and maintaining a Quality Management System (QMS), preferably based on ISO 9001.
- Leadership: Proven ability to strategically lead, manage, and scale QC operations across multiple, complex construction projects simultaneously.
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to executive management, clients, and regulatory bodies.
- Certifications: Professional certification in Quality Management (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Manager, Lead Auditor ISO 9001) is strongly preferred.
