Head - Purchase/Procurement - Pharma

Job Purpose:

To lead the complete Purchase and Procurement function of the pharmaceutical manufacturing plant and ensure timely, cost-effective and compliant procurement of raw materials, packaging materials, engineering spares, consumables and other required materials.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and execute the plant's annual procurement strategy and purchase plan.

- Ensure timely availability of approved raw materials, APIs, excipients, packaging materials, consumables, engineering spares and services.

- Identify, evaluate and develop reliable suppliers in coordination with QA and relevant departments.

- Negotiate prices, payment terms, contracts and commercial conditions to optimize procurement costs.

- Ensure procurement is made only from approved/qualified suppliers as per company procedures.

- Coordinate with QA for vendor qualification, audits and quality-related supplier issues.

- Monitor purchase orders, delivery schedules, lead times and supplier performance.

- Maintain optimum inventory levels and minimize stock-outs, excess inventory and obsolete materials.

- Coordinate with Production, Warehouse, QA, QC, Engineering, Finance and Supply Chain for material requirements.

- Ensure proper documentation, purchase records and compliance with company SOPs and GMP requirements.

- Develop alternate suppliers for critical materials and reduce supply-chain risks.

- Monitor market trends, price movements, availability and potential supply risks.

- Lead the Purchase team and improve procurement processes and team productivity.

- Prepare procurement MIS, cost-saving reports and supplier performance reports for management.
