Role & responsibilities:
Program Leadership:
- Own end-to-end outcomes across the utility and distributed Energy Storage Solutions (ESS) portfolio - scope, schedule, risk, budget, and business impact across hardware, firmware, software, and services.
- Define program charters, plans, and milestone structures with sufficient detail to drive working-level accountability.
- Manage program budgets, track spend against plan, and flag variances with clear corrective actions.
- Proactively identify risks, own escalation, and drive resolution before issues impact delivery.
- Run the full review cadence from working-level design reviews through stage gate approvals to executive portfolio reviews - structured, outcome-oriented, and decision-driving.
PMO Capability and Process Ownership:
- Design, deploy, and improve the program management framework, templates, and tools across the technology organization.
- Own the PDP end-to-end - design, alignment, deployment, and governance - and deploy cross-functional processes including NPD, VAVE, sustaining engineering, and change management across products and services.
- Benchmark against best-in-class technology organizations and bring relevant practices in-house.
- Build and develop a team of program managers with clear roles, standards, and performance expectations.
Business and Stakeholder Leadership:
- Connect program execution to commercial and operational outcomes across the portfolio.
- Translate technical program status into business language for senior and executive audiences.
- Own executive reporting - portfolio health, milestone achievement, risk posture, and budget - structured for leadership decision-making, not status narration.
- Build credibility with peers, functional leaders, and senior leadership as a program owner, not a process administrator.
- Identify and close alignment gaps across SCM, Operations, Engineering, and Commercial proactively, with direct site engagement as needed.
Preferred candidate profile:
- 15+ years in program or project management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated track record delivering complex, cross-functional programs in an industrial systems environment of comparable size and complexity - energy, automotive, aerospace, industrial automation, or equivalent.
- Experience with hardware-firmware-software integrated product development and services delivery, not purely software or purely mechanical programs.
- Proven experience managing program budgets, running multi-level review structures, and reporting to executive leadership in a structured governance environment.
- Hands-on experience building PMO functions and deploying NPD, VAVE, sustaining, and change management processes in a product or manufacturing context.
- Strong business acumen - able to connect program execution to P&L, commercial commitments, and strategic objectives.
- PMP or PgMP preferred.
