Job Description:

The Head of Production Planning & Control (PPC) will be responsible for leading end-to-end production planning, scheduling, capacity planning, material coordination, and manufacturing execution to ensure timely delivery of products in line with customer commitments and organizational objectives. The role requires strong expertise in production planning, demand forecasting, inventory optimization, supply chain coordination, and manufacturing operations within a high-volume manufacturing environment.

The incumbent will drive planning excellence, optimize plant utilization, improve production efficiency, and ensure seamless coordination between production, procurement, stores, quality, and supply chain functions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production Planning & Scheduling:

- Lead end-to-end production planning and scheduling activities across manufacturing operations.

- Develop short-term and long-term production plans aligned with customer demand and business objectives.

- Ensure optimal utilization of plant capacity, manpower, and production resources.

- Monitor production schedules and ensure adherence to delivery commitments.

2. Capacity Planning & Resource Optimization:

- Drive capacity planning initiatives to meet current and future business requirements.

- Conduct workload analysis and line balancing to maximize operational efficiency.

- Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective measures to improve throughput.

- Ensure effective allocation of production resources and manufacturing capacities.

3. Material Planning & Coordination:

- Coordinate with procurement, stores, and supply chain teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components.

- Monitor inventory levels and support inventory optimization initiatives.

- Ensure uninterrupted production through effective material planning and control.

- Drive reduction in excess inventory and stock shortages.

4. Manufacturing Coordination:

- Work closely with production, quality, engineering, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth manufacturing operations.

- Track production progress and proactively address planning deviations.

- Ensure alignment between production plans and operational capabilities.

- Support continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing functions.

5. Process Improvement & Operational Excellence:

- Implement best practices in production planning and control.

- Drive process improvements to enhance planning accuracy and operational efficiency.

- Lead initiatives related to productivity improvement, lead-time reduction, and delivery performance enhancement.

- Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement programs.

6. Performance Monitoring & Reporting:

- Monitor key planning and production metrics.

- Prepare management reports and dashboards related to production performance.

- Analyze demand trends, production efficiency, and delivery performance.

- Present planning insights and recommendations to senior management.

7. Team Leadership:

- Lead and develop the PPC team to achieve operational objectives.

- Establish performance goals and monitor team effectiveness.

- Mentor and coach team members to build planning and operational capabilities.

- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications:

1. Education:

- MBA in Operations, Supply Chain Management, or Production Management preferred.

- Professional certifications in Supply Chain, Operations Planning, or Production Management will be an added advantage.

2. Experience:

- 15-20 years of experience in Production Planning & Control (PPC), Manufacturing Planning, Operations Planning, or Supply Chain Planning.

- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a leadership role managing PPC functions.
