Head - Procurement - API Manufacturing

Position Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Head of Procurement for an API manufacturing organisation. The incumbent will lead strategic and operational procurement for KSMs and MUST have good knowledge of Imports. The role will be responsible for import procurement, strategic sourcing, vendor development, cost optimisation and ensuring uninterrupted availability of critical raw materials, intermediates, solvents and chemicals.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead strategic procurement and sourcing for manufacturing of APIs, intermediates, KSMs, solvents, chemicals and other critical raw materials.

- Manage both domestic and international procurement/imports for manufacturing requirements.

- Identify, evaluate and develop reliable Indian and overseas suppliers.

- Handle import procurement from China, Europe, Japan, Korea and other international markets as applicable.

- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, credit periods, contracts, annual rate agreements and other commercial terms with domestic and international suppliers.

- Manage the complete import procurement cycle, including purchase orders, shipment coordination, documentation and follow-up with suppliers and logistics teams.

- Coordinate with CHA, freight forwarders, logistics providers, Finance and internal stakeholders for smooth clearance and timely receipt of imported materials.

- Monitor lead times, shipment schedules, freight costs, duties and other landed costs to optimise overall procurement costs.

- Drive cost reduction, alternate sourcing and supplier development initiatives.

- Develop alternate sources for critical raw materials to minimise supply-chain risks.

- Ensure timely availability of materials in line with production and inventory requirements.

- Work closely with Production, Planning, Quality, R&D, Regulatory and Finance teams.

- Coordinate with Quality/Technical teams for vendor qualification and approval of new developments.
