Procurement Head

Location : Bangalore (Electronic City)

Department : Supply Chain / Procurement

Reporting To : VP - SCM & Operations

Role Purpose :

The Procurement Head will lead and manage the end-to-end procurement strategy for the company, ensuring cost-effective sourcing, supplier optimization, quality compliance, and uninterrupted supply of raw materials, packaging, and services. This role will play a critical part in driving operational efficiency, cost savings, and strategic vendor partnerships aligned with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities :

Strategic Procurement :

- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business goals.

- Drive cost optimization initiatives while maintaining quality and compliance standards.

- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks through proactive planning and sourcing strategies.

Vendor Management :

- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors.

- Evaluate vendor performance and implement supplier development programs.

- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service agreements to achieve optimal value.

Sourcing & Supply Planning :

- Ensure timely sourcing of raw materials, packaging materials, and indirect spend items.

- Collaborate with R&D, production, and quality teams for demand planning and new product requirements.

- Monitor inventory levels and ensure optimal stock availability.

Cost Control & Budgeting :

- Prepare and manage procurement budgets.

- Track cost savings initiatives and deliver measurable financial impact.

- Analyze market trends and pricing to support strategic sourcing decisions.

Compliance & Quality :

- Ensure procurement activities comply with regulatory, quality, and sustainability standards.

- Work closely with QA/QC teams to ensure supplier compliance and certifications.

Team Leadership :

- Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement team.

- Establish KPIs and monitor team performance.

- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Stakeholder Management :

- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across manufacturing, finance, R&D, and marketing.

- Provide procurement insights to support business decisions and growth initiatives.

Key Requirements :

Education :

- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, or related field.

- MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.

Experience :

- +15 years of experience in procurement, with at least 5+ years in a leadership role.

- Experience in pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, animal health, or herbal products industry preferred.

- Deep understanding of supply chain processes and procurement best practices.
