Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Procurement Leader to drive strategic sourcing, vendor management, cost optimization, and procurement excellence for large-scale Water & Wastewater Treatment projects. The role requires deep technical understanding of engineered equipment and strong commercial acumen to manage procurement end-to-end and ensure delivery within cost, quality, and schedule commitments.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Procurement Leadership:

- Define and execute procurement strategies aligned with organizational and project objectives.

- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives to optimize cost, quality, and delivery performance.

- Establish procurement governance, policies, systems, and compliance oversight.

Vendor & Contract Management:

- Identify, evaluate, and onboard qualified vendors and manufacturers for water treatment equipment and components.

- Negotiate and finalize vendor agreements ensuring favorable commercial terms and risk mitigation.

- Review and approve purchase orders and contracts in line with technical and budget specifications.

Cost Optimization & Budget Control:

- Drive cost-saving initiatives through value engineering, benchmarking, and alternate sourcing.

- Analyze cost drivers and evaluate commercial viability for fabricated & bought-out items.

- Ensure adherence to yearly cost targets and project budgets.

Project & Delivery Management:

- Ensure timely procurement and delivery aligned with project schedules and milestones.

- Manage expediting, vendor deliverables, and resolution of non-conformities or delays.

- Coordinate with engineering, projects, proposals, and finance teams for flawless execution.

Technical & Industry Expertise:

- Provide guidance on procurement of technical equipment (pressure vessels, ATM tanks, piping, pumps, valves, MCC, PLC, instruments, resin, etc.)

- Evaluate vendor manufacturing capability and ensure compliance with engineering codes, QA/QC standards, and safety norms.

- Stay updated on market trends, regulations, and vendor ecosystem.

Team & Stakeholder Management:

- Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement team; drive accountability & performance excellence.

- Collaborate with CXO / senior leadership and internal cross-functional teams.

- Represent procurement in customer/vendor discussions with strong executive presence.

Key Skills & Competencies:

- Expert knowledge of procurement methodologies, PO documentation, scoping strategies & cost benchmarking

- Strong negotiation and communication capability

- Proven leadership experience in managing large procurement teams

- Understanding of equipment & components used in Water/Wastewater treatment plants

- Commercial & contract management expertise; regulatory & compliance understanding

- Vendor evaluation, expediting, risk assessment & issue resolution

- Strong multitasking, prioritization & analytical problem-solving skills

- Familiarity with engineering codes, safety standards and QA/QC norms
