Position: Head of Private Credit Fund
Location: Mumbai, India (with occasional travel as required
About the Fund:
Novanttum Emerging Credit Fund- I is a Category- II AIF targeting USD- 200- Mn (with an additional USD- 25- Mn greenshoe), focusing on collateral- backed debt and debt- related instruments across sectors in India. The Fund aims for a blended IRR of up to 14% (USD) with an 8% hurdle rate and a 7- year tenure with reinvestment opportunity
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the Fund's investment strategy in line with the investment philosophy (mid- to- large corporates, collateral- backed lending, blended IRR 14%) .
Deal Origination & Structuring:
- Leverage proprietary sourcing networks (I- Banks, financial institutions, relationships) to build a robust pipeline of opportunities.
- Structure flexible financing solutions (back- ended payments, bullet repayments, hybrid debt instruments) that meet borrower needs and Fund criteria.
Due Diligence & Approval:
- Oversee third- party diligence, financial modeling, and risk assessment.
- Lead Investment Committee presentations and secure approvals.
Portfolio Management:
- Monitor portfolio performance, covenants, collateral, and covariate market conditions.
- Implement active credit monitoring and workout strategies for under- performing assets.
Fundraising & Investor Relations:
- Support fundraising efforts, prepare pitch materials, and engage with prospective and existing investors globally.
- Report Fund performance, key risk metrics, and mid- quarter updates.
Team Development:
- Build and mentor a high- caliber investment team, including deal teams and sector experts.
- Foster strong internal controls, governance, and compliance standards.
Regulatory & Compliance Oversight:
- Ensure adherence to AIF Category- II regulations, tax/pass- through requirements, and GST/TDS implications.
- Coordinate with Trustee, Custodian, RTA, and auditors.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: MBA/CA/CFA or equivalent advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business.
- Experience: 12+ years in credit markets, private debt, or structured finance, with at least 5- years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of sourcing, structuring, and executing mid- sized (USD- 10-30- Mn) debt deals.
- Experience with AIFs, NBFC credit, corporate bonds, or similar instruments, preferably in the Indian market.
Skills & Competencies:
- Deep understanding of credit risk assessment, collateral valuation, and covenant structuring.
- Strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience dealing with global institutional investors.
- Leadership in building cross- functional teams and fostering a performance- driven culture.
