Role Objective:
Lead the research and product development function, driving innovation in fresh produce handling, storage, and delivery. Build robust R&D systems and processes that scale with the business, ensuring product quality, food safety, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement R&D strategies for new product development in fresh produce.
- Establish and lead the R&D/NPD department, setting up processes, policies, and innovation frameworks.
- Oversee product trials, testing, and validation to ensure scalability and compliance.
- Collaborate with production, supply chain, and technology teams to integrate innovations across the value chain.
- Define and track innovation metrics and KPIs to measure performance.
- Conduct regular training and workshops to promote a culture of research and continuous improvement.
- Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and regulatory bodies.
- Handle customer feedback, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions for product improvements.
Candidate Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Technology, Agriculture Engineering, Quality/R&D, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in R&D, NPD, or research leadership, preferably in food/agriculture supply chain.
- Proven track record of setting up R&D/NPD functions from scratch.
- Strong understanding of product development, quality principles, and compliance standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
