
Description: Brownroof, a specialist executive search firm, has been entrusted by a high-growth EdTech/SaaS organization to identify a Head New Product Development (NPD). We are specifically looking for candidates who bring 712 years experience, with strong product leadership in EdTech/B2B SaaS, explicit consulting and/or market research experience, and hands-on 01 / 1n product-building in B2B / international (ideally US/UK) contexts.
Role Overview:
You will own the 01 and 1n charter for new products, combining product strategy, consulting-style problem solving, and structured market/user research to identify opportunities, validate them, and scale them into sustainable, profitable lines of business. This is a high-ownership role working closely with founders/leadership, sales, marketing, and delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end new product development: opportunity sizing, problem definition, solution hypotheses, MVP scoping, validation, and scaling.
- Drive market and customer research: primary/secondary research, customer and expert interviews, surveys, and competitive/landscape analysis; synthesize insights into clear recommendations.
- Operate in a consulting-style capacity with internal stakeholders structure problems, develop options, build business cases, and present to senior leadership.
- Own product strategy, roadmap, and positioning for new EdTech/SaaS (B2B) offerings, with a focus on international markets (especially US/UK).
- Work with sales and marketing to design GTM strategies, pricing, packaging, and value propositions for new products.
- Define, track, and improve success metrics (adoption, NRR, margins, CAC/LTV, payback), using experiments and data-driven decision making.
- Convert research and insights into clear product artefacts (PRDs, user journeys, problem statements) and collaborate with tech/content/ops teams on execution.
- Act as an internal advisor on new markets, segments, and portfolio bets using structured research and analysis.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- 7-12 years of total experience.
- Significant experience in product management / product strategy in EdTech or B2B SaaS.
- Explicit consulting and/or market research exposure, such as:
- Experience in management/strategy consulting or internal strategy, or
- Roles in market research / insights / analytics, or
- Product roles with clear ownership of structured market/user research.
- Demonstrated 01 and 1n product-building experience (not only incremental feature delivery).
- Strong experience with B2B clients (institutions, enterprises, or global university/corporate partners).
- Hands-on expertise designing and running market studies, customer interviews, surveys, and competitive analysis, and translating findings into product and GTM decisions.
- Comfort working with data, funnels, and experiments: hypotheses, A/B tests, cohorts, and structured learning loops.
- Excellent communication and consulting-style presentation skills able to tell a clear problemsolutionimpact story to senior stakeholders.
Good-to-Have:
- Exposure to US/UK or other international markets (clients, users, or partners).
- Experience in EdTech, higher education, upskilling, or learning platforms.
- Familiarity with AI/GenAI or data-driven products.
Who This Role Is NOT For:
- Pure delivery PMs without meaningful market/user research responsibility.
- Pure sales / BD / growth profiles without product + consulting + research depth.
- Very senior candidates (1820+ years) looking only for broad P&L oversight without hands-on product and research involvement.
