Job Description: Head - Modern Trade

Ahmedabad, Gujarat (Head Office - Preferred)

Role Summary:

Our client is looking for an experienced and dynamic leader to head our Modern Trade division, the role expects complete ownership of the Modern Trade vertical, including planning, partnerships, backend operations, execution, and team management. The candidate should have deep relationships in the modern trade ecosystem - across chains, accounts, stockists, and distributors - and possess a strong understanding of how backend systems function in MT environments.

Responsibilities will include:


- Leading the Modern Trade division end-to-end: strategy, execution, backend operations, and team leadership. Develop and manage relationships with national and regional modern trade accounts .


- Ensure smooth backend operations including supply chain alignment, order processing, scheme implementation, and claims settlement. Drive sales growth through strategic tie-ups, new account development, and improved fill rates.

- Design trade promotions, visibility programs, and seasonal campaigns in collaboration with the marketing team.

- Analyze sales data, market trends, and competitor activity to inform decision-making.

- Own P&L responsibility for the Modern Trade channel.

- Manage and grow a team of 50+ MT professionals including ROLs, KAMs, SO etc

- Work cross-functionally with logistics, finance, and commercial teams to ensure backend hygiene and profitability.

Candidate Profile:

- Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience in FMCG, beverages, dairy, or pharma industry with at least 5 years in Modern Trade leadership.

- Strong relationships across modern trade retailers, stockists, and national/regional chains.

- Deep understanding of MT backend processes - including billing, ERP systems, credit notes, scheme planning, and stock hygiene.

- Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth and improving operational efficiency.

- Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.

- Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to take ownership and drive execution.

Education qualification :

MBA/PGDM in Marketing, Sales, or Business Management preferred.
