
Job Description:
Ocean Lifespaces Pvt. Ltd. is looking for an experienced Head - MEP (Data Centre) to lead the complete Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing function for large-scale Data Centre projects.
The incumbent will be responsible for MEP planning, design coordination, execution, installation, testing & commissioning, cost control, quality, safety and final handover of mission-critical infrastructure.
The ideal candidate should possess extensive Data Centre experience with strong technical knowledge of critical power infrastructure, HVAC and cooling systems, fire protection, plumbing, ELV, controls, BMS/EPMS and redundancy architecture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the complete MEP function for Data Centre projects from design coordination through execution, commissioning and handover.
- Develop MEP execution strategies, schedules, resource plans and project milestones.
- Coordinate MEP requirements with Civil, Structural, Architectural, Design and Project teams.
- Lead installation and execution of Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection and associated utility systems.
- Oversee critical electrical infrastructure including HT/LT systems, transformers, DG sets, UPS, batteries, switchgear, busducts and power distribution systems.
- Oversee critical cooling infrastructure including chillers, cooling towers, pumps, CRAH/CRAC units, AHUs and chilled-water systems.
- Coordinate BMS, EPMS, ELV and control-system integration.
- Review MEP drawings, specifications, equipment selections, method statements and technical submissions.
- Ensure MEP installations comply with approved drawings, specifications, applicable codes and Data Centre reliability requirements.
- Review MEP design for constructability, maintainability, redundancy and operational reliability.
- Manage OEMs, contractors, subcontractors, consultants and specialist MEP vendors.
- Coordinate procurement of critical and long-lead MEP equipment and provide technical support during vendor evaluation.
- Monitor MEP project budgets, quantities, variations and cost-to-complete.
- Drive progress reviews and implement recovery plans wherever MEP activities are affecting project milestones.
- Ensure coordination and clash resolution between MEP services and architectural/civil works.
- Drive QA/QC and EHS compliance across all MEP activities.
- Lead and coordinate FAT, SAT, pre-commissioning, testing & commissioning and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
- Validate system performance, redundancy and failure-response scenarios before operational handover.
- Ensure punch-list closure, as-built drawings, O&M manuals and commissioning documentation are completed.
- Coordinate final handover of MEP systems to the client's operations/facilities team.
- Lead, mentor and develop MEP Managers, Engineers and multidisciplinary project teams.
Candidate Requirements:
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Around 20 years of overall MEP/project experience.
- Strong and substantial experience in Data Centre/Mission-Critical projects is essential.
- Should have worked in senior positions such as Head-MEP/MEP Head/Project Head-MEP/MEP Lead/GM-MEP/equivalent.
- Strong knowledge across both Electrical and Mechanical critical infrastructure, irrespective of the candidate's core engineering discipline.
- Strong understanding of Data Centre power distribution, backup power, cooling and controls infrastructure.
- Experience with Tier III/Tier IV or comparable high-availability/redundancy requirements would be highly desirable.
- Strong exposure to testing, commissioning and IST.
- Experience managing large contractors, OEMs, consultants and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge of project planning, procurement, contracts, cost control, quality and safety.
- Strong client and stakeholder-management capabilities.
