Head - Mechanical Design:

Currently we are hiring for Head - Mechanical Design for our esteemed client.

Experience: 15 + years

Education: BE/B.Tech/ME/M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering; specialisation or strong exposure in Machine Design, Rotating Equipment or Thermal Engineering preferred.

Location: Coimbatore, Chennai

Key Responsibilities:

- Define and execute the mechanical design roadmap for electric motors across domestic and international product requirements.

- Lead end-to-end mechanical development covering frame, housing, end shields, shaft, rotor assembly, bearings, fan/cooling system, terminal box, enclosure and mounting interfaces.

- Own engineering calculations and design validation for strength, stiffness, shaft deflection, bearing life, rotor dynamics, vibration, noise and thermal performance.

- Apply FEA, thermal analysis, tolerance stack-up and engineering simulation, correlate analytical results with prototype and laboratory testing.

- Drive new-product development from requirement definition and concept through detailed design, prototype, validation, industrialisation and production release.

- Ensure design compliance with applicable IEC/IS/NEMA requirements, enclosure/IP protection, mounting arrangements and customer specifications.

- Drive platform standardisation, modularisation, component commonisation, design-for-manufacturing/assembly and value engineering.

- Lead technical RCA and permanent corrective action for mechanical failures, excessive vibration/noise, bearing issues, thermal concerns and field reliability problems.

- Work closely with Electrical Design, Electronics/Drives, Pump R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, Testing, Product Management and Service.

- Build and develop the mechanical-design team, design-review discipline, engineering documentation and product-release governance.
